OnePlus 8 Verizon Edition PSA

I recently purchased the OnePlus 8 from Verizon. I assumed the cases for all the OnePlus 8 variants would be universal. Two Amazon cases and one case from T-Mobile later I discovered the volume button is lower on the Verizon edition. To top it off the Verizon cases for this phone are sold out or expensive or shitty. Other than that and the tramp stamp this phone is pretty good. Especially considering they will give you a $550 credit for phones that aren't even close to worth that much.

TL;DR No...

Did the mid-range segment peak with the Mi9T? And if so, why hasn't anything else come close?

I feel like nothing has really improved in the mid-range segment for almost a year (Mi9T released in June).

Actually for many things, we went backwards (was hoping notchless screens would be come the normality, instead we chase higher refresh rates) and nothing has really done as much as the 9T does for that price (less than 200£ at times on AliExpress pretty much since it came out and less than 300£ from Amazon).

How come I feel like we're still stuck with that phone as the most sensible pick...

Do you think Google should update Android with a control center style like on IOS and MUI 12?

Imo I say yes it looks clean and more accessible and organized. That's just my opinion.

What are your thoughts?...

I believe Instagram has improved the quality of uploads on Android

At least when you upload an image to your feed.

Now the compression algorithm is so much better, I believe iOS level.

Time to sell the iPhone 5S I bought just for uploading to my feed....

Am I the only one who thinks it's funny how the S20 has 12GB of RAM?

I find it funny (and cool) how the S20 has 12GB of RAM, and the PS4 and some laptops only have 8GB. When you put it into perspective, big budget games like GTA V need 4GB of RAM, and RDR2 needs 8GB. Thats pretty impressive. If you go based off of storage and memory alone, the S20 series (especially the + and ultra. Or ones with higher storage settings.) have enough Storage and memory to download AAA games. Of course outside of that it needs more to actually run it, but still. I hear that in 2023...

Screen aspect ratio's getting ridiculously narrow

I literally can't change my Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with an 6.44 " full hd screen with 16:9 aspect ratio. New screens are too narrow, I don't enjoy using them. If I use them portrait then I need horizontal width but it's narrow horizontally while giving unnecessarily long vertical scroll area. If I use them landscape then the the height of the screen is too narrow to see enough without scrolling while it is so wide that I can't even type, can't reach the middle of the screen typing.

Not all the phones...

Why do you alway mention the price when talking about Android updates?

Like "1000$ phone with one year update is bad" (Motorola edge eg. )

Things have always been like this, even when flagships were cheaper. Why no one blame Google? Qualcomm? OEMs?

Price has nothing to do with it. Premium phones should get more updates? That is not true. Nothing about the OS makes the phone premium. Also look at pixel 3a who has more updates as non premium than some premium out there. And if you claim that it makes sense for cheaper phones to get less updates, than tha...
