What Android phone has lasted you for a while?
iPhones seem to get current updates for 5+ years, but for someone who is too deep in the Google ecosystem; what phone have you been rocking for a while with no problems?
(I've been using my 5T for a while and appreciate how it's still chugged along for me with no hiccups)
Edit: switched whole to while*...

A neat way to block ads everywhere through DNS (no app required)
I suspect quite a lot of you have heard about this, but I hope this will be helpful for some of you.
On Android 9 and up, you can set a custom private DNS server. This means that whenever your phone needs to make a connection to a website (i.e. reddit.com), your phone talks to a DNS server and the DNS server responds with that website's IP address (i.e. [51.101.53.140](https://51.101.53.140)).
On Android, however, you can customize your DNS server to any DNS server you'd like. So, if your pho...

The next iteration of material design
I thought I'd see what some of you redditors thought about what the next big design language change for the Android ecosystem might entail, what it is you'd personally like to see, and any glaring issues you might have with the current design.
For me personally, I think that the basic template for Android apps should be redesigned similarly to Samsung's OneUI header layout. Google likely could improve and add onto what Samsung has already done. These days, Android phones are almost exclusively ...

Yes, it means writing down the company's $1.1B acquisition of HTC's hardware engineering division as a complete failure. But Google has a better mobile way forward.
What top 3 features from iOS would you want to see in Android?
Like the noscript says, if you could take 3 features from iOS and have them implemented in Android, what would they be?
Here are mine:
1. **Design consistency and interface fluidity.** Even after Material Design, it seems like Android (and Google's own apps) lack a clear and consistent design language.
2. **Immediate software updates, regardless of phone manufacturer.** Having to wait before your phone manufacturer pushes out an update that Google released months ago is probably the biggest annoy...

What is the problem with MediaTek?
Seriously, companies like Samsung, Google, etc... Complain about Qualcomm raising the prices of their SoCs this year (and use this as another excuse to justify their prices), of course, they gonna do something like this when there is almost no competition at all but the manufacturers are responsible for killing the competition by using only Qualcomm SoCs.
Exynos has power consumption and heating issues but what about MediaTek?
MediaTek chipsets are weaker than Qualcomm but aren't they cheaper ...

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series might ditch the S20 Ultra's 100x Space Zoom feature. But it wouldn't be a major loss at all.
