Galaxy S20 FE - Day 1 Impressions

Just thought I'd share my feelings on the new Galaxy phone from the stand point of a casual tech user, so this won't be very in depth.

With a growing economic crisis in the world, we're seeing a larger array of phones with a more budget-friendly appeal. As someone experiencing a bit of financial hardship, the S20 FE seemed like the perfect choice for $599. A mid-range phone is so appealing since I want it to last at least 2 years without it being too hard to pay off.

Coming from the Pixel 3a...

Managing files in the "Android/data" folder on Android 11 (without root or USB)

As you may be aware, Android 11 made some big changes to the Scoped Storage functionality that Google began to implement with Android 10. One of the biggest user-facing changes is removing access to the "Android/data" folder, blocking all apps (including file managers) from accessing any data within it.

This is unfortunate, as many apps, including emulators as well as source ports of PC games, require users to place files inside the "Android/data" folder in order for these apps to run. Having...

Interesting thing to keep in mind when talking about phone camera hardware - I don't give extensive credibility to DXOMARK but 5 of top 5 phones there are all large sensors with 48-50 megapixels (and software that is still nowhere as good as GCam)

Mi 10 Ultra

P40 Pro

Vivo X50 Pro+ (using Samsung GN1 sensor that Samsung still is not using)

Honor 30 Pro+

Oppo Find X2 Pro...

I've owned every Pixel phone. Here are my thoughts on the Pixel 5.

Hey guys,

Over the past years, I've had the privilege to own every Google Pixel phone. So, I was very excited to learn about the Pixel 5 today. After watching the announcement, doing some research, and reflecting on my experience with my Pixel 4 XL, I'd like to share some thoughts. I'm not commenting on the software as every feature announced today will be coming to older generations (I think).

[**I also made a video on the Pixel 5**](https://youtu.be/3o3u-Hpj6Xo) **(no ads or monetization).**...

Why do you opt for a privacy browser when you use Android

So over the last few weeks I’ve been trying different browsers, from FF, Chrome, Bromite, Brave so on.
However I’ve started to think, if you use Google products, for example I have Google Nest WiFi at home, an Android phone and sometimes I use my chrome book, what is the actual point of switching to a ”Private” browser?

People say its to help prevent tracking which I get completely, but the OS collects data regardless.

I’m just wondering what peoples take on this is? Is there any point using...

Unlimited Google Photos backup dropped with Pixel 5 & 4a 5G?

**edit: please ignore, I was mislead by product page**

Was looking over [https://store.google.com/us/magazine/compare\_pixel](https://store.google.com/us/magazine/compare_pixel) and noticed that Pixel 4a lists the following:

>128 GB storage^(10), plus unlimited storage at high quality with Google Photos^(11)

The 5 and 4a 5G, however, only list

>128 GB storage^(10)

Further, the footnotes seems to imply the same:

>^(11) Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL: Google Photos offers unlimited online...

Would this help Android adoption?

YouTube was the 2nd most downloaded app for Apple's App store in July 2020. Imagine if Google Duo was integrated into YouTube.. Almost like the Trojan Horse. It would make it easier for iPhone users to make the switch to Android. They wouldn't have to beg members of their inner circle to Download Google Duo because it would already be there.

I know RCS is a long shot but this would at least address the "..... but we can't facetime" argument. Covertly make Duo available on ALL iPhones.

Thoughts...
