Digital Wellbeing needs to support setting daily limit timers for a group of apps

I think it's high time that Digital Wellbeing provides the option to group apps together and then assign a timer for the group as a whole.

For example, if a user wants to ensure that they don't spend more than 1 hour a day on social media apps, then they can create a group containing their social media apps and then set the group timer to 1 hour. That way, they can spend however long they want on each app, as long as the total time across all of those apps does not exceed 1 hour.

Currently, w...

When is android going to take steps towards privacy like Apple?

Apple just made some changes which has got Facebook and Zucc squirming enough to take full front page ads on papers to ask users to pushback the changes apple us making.

While we have android manufacturers bundling Facebook, Instagram and Facebook messenger in their phones which are not even uninstallable. We are also getting ads baked into the is with no way to get rid of them in some manufacturers phones. (Not the low tier ones, even premium flagship devices).

When do you think Android manuf...

I miss phones with curved backs

I’m using an iPhone XR right now but from the moment I got it, I thought to myself what is this unholy chunk of a phone.

Coming from a Moto X and a OnePlus 3T, I realised how much I missed the ergonomics of having a phone with curves to match the hand.
Having thin edges made it easier to use the phone one handed and it felt better balanced.

It also meant phones could get away with having a smaller or no camera bump.

Quite a lot of phones by HTC, LG, Asus, Motorola, and OnePlus were design...

Picking a new phone: an analysis.

Tl:dr; If your phone doesn’t just need to be cheap but also pretty damn good, you get most value for money if you get an Xiaomi Mi 10T pro, a Lenovo Legion Pro or a Xiaomi Redmi K30S.

My 7-year old OnePlus One is finally at the end of its life, and will be dearly missed. This leaves me, as many others, with the difficulty of deciding on a new phone. Being the nerd that I am, I made an attempt at some spread sheeting to help me make the decision. I'm posting my analysis, the methods and the ...

Did Microsoft pull something similar to CD Projekt Red this year? Surface duo vs cyberpunk 2077

Earlier this year when Microsoft released the surface duo they put an embargo on any coverage of the software for the first wave of reviews.

Accordingly, the phones most impressive feature was shown off, even as reviewers like Mr mobile, and others we're unable to tell us that the software was broken at the time and basically unusable.

Microsoft did update the software before the phone released and fixed many -- not all -- of the software bugs. But nonetheless, they were effectively hiding the...

Will modern Android phones hold up in the long run?

Given the insane prices that phones packing the SD 865 are going for, midrange android phone using the weaker, but still potent, SD 765 have become more popular.

Also Google and Qualcomm’s four year support announcement means that we could see iOS-esque long term support.

Now it’s no secret that older android flagships ages like dogshit compared to older iPhones, the question now is will modern android phones hold up in terms of performance/snappiness to make the long term software support wor...
