What's your guys' favorite smartphone of all time and why? Mine is the Samsung Galaxy S4 and you'll see why down below

I've had a couple of Samsung phones and I think they're great. I've ever only had two of their smartphones tho, or three if you count the Galaxy Young.

Galaxy Young was an experience to say the least. Looking back it doesn't even seem like a smartphone but just because it had a touch screen, it was a smartphone, at least for me. I remember the pressing of the buttons surprisingly smooth and didnt feel like those screens where you had to press with mild pressure to actually interact with the sc...

With the new "Right to Repair" thing starting to take effect, there are a few companies selling refurbished phones now. What slightly older phones do you think are worth picking up?

I've seen a Galaxy S8 for €200 and a Pixel 3 for €300, dunno which other ones I should be looking at.
All phones guaranteed 12 months too...

What is a flagship anymore?

The de-facto standard of a flagship has always been a top of the line SoC because the performance they offer is needed for the high-end experience; I’m guessing it mostly to do with smoothness and image processing.

Aside from SoC, a flagship experience also includes premium materials, and high build quality.

Given that modern flagships with top of the line SoC are going for insane prices, most are considering midrange phones for the first time.

Throw in the fact that midrange phones nowadays...

What 'next gen' features are you looking for on your next upgrade?

We're coming up on the end of the year, the new SD888 phones are expected to be releasing in the next few weeks and the Q1 release windows are right on our doorstep, so lots of people will be buying a new phone in the next few months.

I've had my phone for a year now and I'm quite happy with it, as long as it keeps working I don't think I'll upgrade any time in the next 3 years. That got me thinking though, what are features I'd like in my next phone. Here's what I've come up with:

* Under di...

I tested the iPhone 12 Pro Max against the 11 Pro, Pixel 4a, and Pixel 4XL in extreme low light conditions. Here's what I learned.

In this test, I decided to compare it to the 11 Pro, Pixel 4XL and Pixel 4a. I shot everything handheld to simulate real world conditions. If you want to see how the iPhone 12 Pro (non Max) compares to the Pixel 4XL and the iPhone 11 Pro,[check out this post I made](https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/jktp5z/i_tested_the_iphone_12_pro_night_mode_against_the/) a couple months ago.

Here are the results.

* iPhone 12 Pro Max usually goes for a higher ISO and faster shutter speed vs 11 Pro usu...

1080p displays are objectively better than 1440p for performance & battery life, so why are we acting like any phone switching from 1440p to 1080p is a "downgrade" in terms of user experience?

Genuinely curious. Asking mainly because of the recent S21 post and the comments on it;

https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/kl0pc0/samsung\_galaxy\_s21\_and\_s21\_plus\_all\_details\_about/

Specifically, people that seem to be acting like its "unforgivable" that a +$1000 USD phone has a 1080p display and not a 1440p one. Or asking whether they'll see much of a downgrade because of the l...

Android to iphone and back, why

My beloved Pixel 2 XL reached EOL, so time to get a new phone. I have teenagers, they need iphones for imessage(look it up, green bubbles get excluded from group chats, not good as a teenager) I figured I should try it. I like my macbook(professional software dev) so why not?
Iphone Pros:

* imessage is nice, android message platform is a mess. Hopefully they stick with messages
* Lots of choices for accessories
* I like the multi window carplay over the hover bar of android auto. AA is more ...
