Just found out why I haven't been getting Gmail notifications on my phone for ages, thought I would share in case it helps others.
This probably doesn't apply if you don't have a work related google account on your phone.
So for months now I haven't been getting gmail notifications on my phone, which has been a pain in the arse, especially as for the life of me I could not work out why. Tried messing around with tons of the settings, power options etc, and nothing would work.
Then today, I finally finished up with a client I had been working with on a project for a couple of years, and removed my google account with them ...

A few months later, the fingerprint scanner and ultimately the home button stopped working and apps started crashing soon after....
