Carriers really fucked a lot of android phones with the shutdown of 2G and 3G

With VOLTE being requirement now to make and receive calls and texts, a lot of older Android phones becomes paper weight. Likewise for older phones running recent firmware through custom roms like AOSP. I am not fan of newer Android phones seems they tend to cut corners and asks for higher price point to add to the injury. That leaves us with carrier android phones that are locked down to the core with bloats and such to ensure we have VOLTE working. No more options for international unlocked p...

for those who have compatible devices it turns out that NextRadio STILL works... you just have to downgrade to 4.0.2

I was using 5.0 but that version wouldn't work on new devices- it'd just be forced in "look for location" and crash.

6.0 cut the tuner portion completely, don't even bother.

but 4.0? when "searching for location for stations fails my app asked me if I wanted to switch to the basic tuner...to which it worked! if anyone still cares for on board FM radio that was my workaround when the FM radio native apps wouldn't work at all...

I'm going to miss my Zenfone 6. A Zenfone 6 appreciation thread

The camera broke on my Zenfone 6 and instead of trying to get it fixed by Asus (replacement flipping camera on a phone 2 generations behind) I ended up buying the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE on Prime Day.

Switching to the Galaxy ecosystem just made me appreciate the Zenfone software/hardware more, and for how much I paid for it ($500)

1. headphone jack
2. Dedicated smart button that completely customizable. Had it so one-press changes audio profiles, long press locks screen orientation, and double...

Feature Idea: Temporary app installs

I've just had to wipe my phone due to the large amount of clutter slowing it down and realised I had a ton of apps I only ever used once. It'd be awesome if the play store gave you an option to automatically uninstall an app after a certain time period for apps you know you only ever want to use once or twice....

Why is Android phasing out 32-bit support when most phones use only 4 GB or less RAM?

It seems to me that 32-bit support is advantageous in that 32-bit programs use up less RAM than 64 bit programs. Most phones use 4 GB or less of RAM so there is not much of an advantage in having 64-bit to access more RAM. Maybe there is something I don't know, but I don't see what the reason is in dropping 32-bit support....
