Are Chinese phones untrustworthy?

A news article came out in my country (Belgium) about our version of the NSA warning people that Chinese phones might be used for espionage.
It also says that no actual evidence of espionage has been found so far.


Should government officials or corporations stay away from using brands like Oppo, OnePlus or Huawei? How does data collection from Chinese companies differ...

Phones displays are getting too tall and narrow?

I couldn't find any discussion on this topic and wanted to make a post to see if I was the off one out or if others had similar views.

I used to have a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which was
perfect for watching YouTube, the video took up the entire 6.9 inch screen.

I was looking for an upgrade and all the new phones a stupidly tall and narrow at aspect ratios around 21:9...

Surely watching YouTube as an use case take precedence over watching movies on Netflix?

Android 10 Bluetooth Cutting Out Definitive Fix 2021

THE PROBLEM

This problem first occured as early as 2017 and seems to have resurfaced with the Android 10 update June 2020.

I searched everywhere for a definitive fix but everyone seemed to be talking about fixes for phones I didn't have.
For context I have had this problem with both Moto G 5 Plus and my newly purchased Moto G 8 Power 2020.
To be clear this is a problem that effects ALL different Android phones not just Motos.

Here is my rambling, middle-aged duffer review of my Zenfone 8.


Rambling

After my amazing Galaxy Note 8 blew me away and lasted 2.5 years, I went for the Galaxy Note 10 Plus next. My mistake. It was too unwieldy to use one-handed, and too heavy to read for more than 30 minutes before making my hands ache. This was my fault for going bigger. The wife has the regular Note 10 and it is much closer to the Note 8. Sadly it also lagged heavily about once a week requiring a reboot to stop....

Have app updates gone too far in terms of size and frequency?

I've been using Android phones from 2010. And since then app updates have obviously gone bigger in size, which is understandable since phones have more memory and apps are more complex. But the current state in my opinion is too much. I have about 60 apps installed and there's not a single day without my phone offering me some kind of update. The absolute worst are popular apps like FB, Messenger, Revolut. They have a 60-100mb update every other day, which is ridiculous.

What are your thoughts?...
