Google needs to apply it's AI to local spell checking.

If you are like me, years of resting on the crutch of omnipresent spell checking has weakened my spelling muscle to a limp noodle. For tough words we all know you can dump the most butchered phonetic spelling into Google search and get the proper spelling back out.

You would expect some degree of this quasi telepathic spelling ability to extend to Gboard...

Nope, not by a long shot. Infact sometimes having a single vowel be off totally throws the keyboard prediction for a loop (try typing "vo...

The Redmi Note 10 5G (aka Redmi Note 10T 5G in India) in review - An underrated midrange gem 💎

So, I inquired about this device (and its rebadged sibling, the Poco M3 Pro) on r/Xiaomi, since I was in the market for a back-up device (primary being the Vivo X60 Pro - Snapdragon variant), and the few (yet detailed enough) responses to my query convinced me pull the trigger on my purchase - I ordered the device off Amazon India (6 | 128 GB, 'Graphite Black').

My reason for picking the Redmi Note 10T over its other, 'best reviewed' siblings under the Note 10 stable was the simple fact that t...

Pixel 6 haptics may finally be on par with the iPhone

So this is a tweet from Quinn Nelson, of Snazzy Labs on YouTube, and he and others think the Pixel 6 vibration motor is pretty close to that of the latest iPhone. Coming from Quinn, a vehement haptics critic, this is great news for people that place a lot of emphasis on the quality of the vibration motor.

Why aren't phones just called "smart cameras" now.

Odd question I know, but it's starting to bother me how cameras are such a focus on phones now.

I'll watch a 20min review on a new phone and 15mins of it is about taking pictures, or read a review and 75% of it is just going on about photos.

I dont see many people go into the other specs of a device, call quality, signal strength, if the earpiece is worth anything, I own a fold3 and even though it literally folds in half and can do so much people just harp on its cameras, like i get people wan...

Sony is now pushing ads to Xperia devices owners from their Support app

I just got this notification in my Xperia 1 III (keep in mind, Sony's previous flagship that only got released to market a couple of months ago).

Personally, I find ridiculous and outrageous that they are trying to upsell the Xperia PRO-1 to their previous flagship owners.
And not just that, but the fact that app that is sending the notification is their own "Support" app, which inside its configuration has no toggles whatsoever for ads and marketing pushes....

I finally figured out what's been bothering me about the Android 12 notification shade animation

Repost, previous submission removed due to wrong flair

So I recently updated to Android 12 on my Pixel 3, and my initial impressions were less than satisfactory. In particular, something about the notification shade seemed viscerally unsatisfying, and I think I've pinned down what's so uncanny about it.

Previous versions of Android implemented the notification shade as a proper shade, like a blind being pulled down from the top of the screen. To make this effect convincing, the shade's bot...
