Quick thoughts on the Motorola Edge 2021

I got one for Christmas and after a day or so of use, here are my thoughts upgrading from a Pixel 3. I was originally hoping for a OnePlus 9, but that would've been difficult and more expensive to get through Verizon, so I asked for this instead.

The thing that got me interested was the battery, and sure enough it delivers on that. The battery lasts a super long time and the charger is pretty fast. I've heard some complain about the design being cheaper than the 2020 version, but I still think ...

Why isn't it more common to take photos in RAW?

I may be totally wrong on this, but it seems very rare for people to take photos in raw. Unless they're an experienced photographer, most people have no idea what I'm talking about when I ask. On the last few Android phones I've owned, I've taken photos almost exclusively in raw, adjusted the levels in photoshop express, and gotten great images. Yes it takes a few more steps, but the pictures almost always look better than the stock app, given that photo is well lit.

I had an ASUS ROG Phone II...

I got an S21FE - any questions?

First up, not sure if this sub is the right place, but I'd like to potentially help people and share my excitement.

Managed to pick up one of these through a mostly retail channel here. Have been on mostly cheap phones for the last few year, so having a blast playing with this. I can't compare to any other flagships I'm afraid. My previous phone was the Poco X3 and before that the Poco F1.

Proof?...

Fun with GSIs: A retrospective on Project Treble’s impact on custom ROMs

In my post from last week, I talked about how Google plans to standardize virtualization on Android in order to combat fragmentation. Fragmentation is a term you’ll see a lot in this subreddit, but when most people say it, it’ll usually be when they're talking about the distribution of Android OS versions — my post from last week was an exception. Android fragmentation is not a problem that Goo...

Android's Best Feature (?): Scheduled messages

I'm not good at text messages.

Let me rephrase. I'm not good at sending text messages at reasonable times.

I'm not good at communication in general, but one of the biggest ways this works itself out is in the fact that I don't remember to send text messages, or if I do, it's way too early in the morning or like a day after I should've done it. I send out reminders about things the morning they're relevant instead of the night before. I send stuff over the weekend instead of on Monday morning w...

AetherSX2 (PS2 Android emulator) Patreon Launch

>After about a month of public/open testing and many requests from users on how you can support us, we're opening this Patreon to fundraise devices and hosting. The most important part is in the next paragraph.

>The app will remain free, there is no plans to change that. There will be no early access, supporters will have the exact same builds as everyone else. We feel that it's unfair for those who can afford to support projects to get features ahead of others, so that's something that we ...
