Google's love affair with the navigation bar/pill

Ever since the introduction of navigation gestures there has been a little bar at the bottom of the screen, for some it's a waste of space. So people have figured out a way to hide it. Overscan worked well, but Google disabled that with Android 11. Then with the introduction of Android 12 it was discovered that you could use fabricate overlays to hide it. And with the 2022 security patch that is now also disabled. Now it can still be hidden with root but that's no viable for everyone.

Not sure if influencers purposely mislead or if they just read off spec sheets!

This video about the Realme GT 2 Pro popped up on my feed and I checked it out.

I was almost immediately thrown off by the video. He opens with how Realme is the fastest growing company in smartphone history. Totally glossing over the fact that they are an Oppo subbrand. Never once does he mention the relationship to Oppo or Oneplus acting as though Realme is some totally separate brand.

January 2022 update re-enables volume adjustment for remote media sessions (ie. Cast)

Cast volume controls have been re-enabled with the January 2022 update for Pixel. Google either settled its legal matter or this new method enables cast volume controls in a way that doesn't violate the patent from Sonos. Here's the relevant patch.
