Claim: Google should give device makers a cut from each Google Play transaction that happens on a device they make.

The goal is the long-term survival and success of Android as platform ( Not just Google, Not just device makers ). say a 5% of the 30%. This extra revenue stream will enable makers make better devices or make them more competitive and keep them in the game altogether, also this can be leveraged to improve the status of the platform and tackle some of it's known shortcomings. What are you all doing with your old phones?

My previous phone is my PC's webcam, video game emulator and a basic travel PC.

I'm looking for other things that I could do, or improvements I can make to my set up. It's been cool tinkering, but I feel like I'm at my limit. I don't have root, and I don't have unlocked bootloader or anything like that. I looked into it, and it's far too complicated for my abilities....

Privacy and Facebook

Facebook stock plummets 26% in its biggest one-day drop ever (cnbc.com)

With this week's news events with Zuckerburg losing a couple of bucks and Apple playing some part in it, albeit not the largest majority, the question is, when does Android take a stand in privacy control and tell Facebook no more harvesting?...

I was able to see an S22 Ultra in person

I had a very brief hands on demo with the S22 Ultra and can answer a few questions about the device.

Things to know:
1. Leaked pictures and rumors are accurate. Looks very much like a Note 20 Ultra without raised glass for cameras. There is still a bump from the camera lenses though
2. S Pen is integrated in the phone, no longer external. Latency is noticeably better as well.
3. Up to 65 watt fast charging, power adapter still sold separately
4. 100x zoom is improved, better stabilization

Google is working on a public API for apps to use ultra-wideband (UWB) on supported devices

According to a code change, Google is preparing to add a new support library described as a "public API surface for apps to use UWB (ultra-wideband) on supported devices."

UWB is a short-range wireless communication technology commonly used for applications that need precise precisioning. Several Samsung flagships and Google's Pixel 6 Pro have UWB hardware already.
