it seems the death of LG phones is acellerating the death of 3.5mm headphone jacks.

For awhile there was a brief resurgence of headphone jacks in phones followed by resistance from makers to completely drop them.

Some had them on their main flagship, but most put them in their upper mid range or midrange phone series. Upper low end ($100-200) had several too.

However since the announcement that LG(Lucky Goldstar, but they like to pretend that wasn't a thing) were leaving the smartphone industry things changed, and we saw some makers drop the jack.

After full death of LG unti...

Instead of tablets, why doesn't a company make a good portable monitors that you plug your phone into?

Instead of needing a CPU/GPU/RAM, it just needs a good display and maybe a battery, bringing the cost down.

Users won't have to juggle applications and data on two devices and can just plug it into their tablet for the bigger display.

Asus had a PadFone before, but that was proprietary instead of working with any device.

You just need a netting or fannypack or elastic band on the back of the tablet to hold your phone while its connected. See how the PadFone worked with the dock, its proprieta...

Galaxy S22 Exynos owners reporting defective devices

Many early adopters of the Exynos S22 Ultra seem to be experiencing an issue with their phones where a column of pixels is displaying jumbled data. This typically is a hardware issue, caused by a loose display cable or fault in the display or GPU. The other reason this is likely a hardware issue, is because only the Exynos models are having the issue, I have not seen anyone with a Snapdragon model post about this issue yet.

Is anything actually using the ML processors in the new SoCs?

ARM/Qualcomm etc are pushing their new processors with "2x ML performance" - are there any apps or good use cases for on-device machine learning? There's a bit of computational photography going on but I'm not aware of any other novel uses?

Many companies use AI extensively, but how many are actually doing it on your device, and not their datacentre?...

After 7 years of using Android today I realised that you can select a word or sentence and use caps lock to capitalise just first or all letters.

It's soo useful, now I only need an undo redo function....

S22 Ultra has software issues according to ComputerBase.de and other testers

Many reviews, benchmarks and battery tests that are on the internet right now, do not show very positive results when compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or even the Exynos 2100. This could be due to unfinished pre-release software.

Do you think that reviewers should wait with publishing reviews until there has been a software update?

I switched Android to Apple last month, and it is my biggest regret of 2022. What I wish I knew!

So I have mostly had OnePlus android phones, and I have loved them. However, because they still rely on questionable networks, occasional texts still fail to get delivered. This only happens about 0.001% of the time or something like that. Still, I missed one particular text that was SUPER important that led to the end of a relationship. Things wouldn’t have worked out anyway, but things would have ended much more pleasantly. So I decided that this situation was my wake-up call. I decided to get...

Lenovo Legion Y700 Tablet leaked further, 8.8 inch iPad Mini competitor, 1440p 120hz, 6550mah 45w charging, SD870, 12gb LPDDR5, 256gb UFS3.1 all for the rumored price of 2000 Yuan / $316

Seems like an incredible offering for that price, especially with barely any decent 8" tablets around, the iPad Mini 2021 has been a massive success with rave reviews praising it for its compact size, surprising that more manufacturers haven't jumped on the chance yet!
