What happened to the high-end budget Android phones?

Im talking real budget priced smartphones.

If we go back to 2012-2013, Android in particular (excluding Windows Phone 520, 521, 630) had completely changed the lower end phone market. Phones from HTC, Motorola, LG, and others had given you low cost phones that were damn good devices, often with extras in the box. This slowed around 2016, and practically disappeared in 2018 onward.

Samsung has quietly removed Bluetooth Tethering from the S21 Ultra's feature set

I recently bought a new car and, when I paired my phone to the car, was surprised to find that my S21 Ultra phone does not support Bluetooth Tethering. Odd for a flagship phone.

I did some digging and discovered Bluetooth Tethering has been removed from all manuals for the S21:

Bad USB cables are frequently behind Android Auto issues, so Google is adding a USB Startup Diagnostics tool to the Android Auto app.

Version 7.5.121104 of the Android Auto app is rolling out, and in it I discovered that there's a new USB Startup Diagnostics tool that checks if Android is able to send data through USB, which might not be possible if the cable is connected to the wrong port in the car, the cable is incompatible/damaged, or the phone's USB port is damaged.

This feature hasn't rolled out to most users yet, but when it does, it'll appear in Android Auto's settings under "Connection help."
