PSA: It's looking like the Unlocked Pixel 7/7 Pro & Straight Talk/Tracfone's Verizon BYOP service are not compatible.

If you're using either Straight Talk, or Tracfone with their Verizon SIM, I would avoid the Unlocked Pixel 7 & 7 Pro for right now. I'm not sure if it's the phones themselves, or an issue with the carrier, or a combination of both, but it seems they're not compatible. I got my 7 Pro on Wednesday and tried using my ST Verizon SIM and it wouldn't work. I'm coming from a Oneplus 9 Pro and the SIM works just fine.

I say it could be an issue with either the phone, or with ST/TF because when...

When you open your camera app, it should be ready to record video not take pictures.

You can double click your power button to open the camera app from your pocket.

Never know when you need to catch something on film ASAP.

How do you feel?...

Opinion: Rooting should be a standard option

Rooting has been considered unsafe as of lately, and it's getting a pain to use some apps that you would otherwise use on a stock device (banking apps etc.)
That's also getting on my nerves.
I mean, what is root in general? It's basically admin rules for your device. On Windows you can tweak your system, yet it's not considered unsafe.
Root is regulated via root manager app, which means it's up to you to give an app root access or not.
Imo the true reason root is being suppressed is because it ...

Go-to strategies for diagnosing battery issues on your android device?

I'm curious to hear about how other folks try to figure out what's causing their battery drain on their phone or tablet. Seeing as it's a common complaint (dare I say, the biggest?), figuring out why a battery is dying so quickly seems like a good skill to have and a worthwhile general discussion post.

So far my go-to strategy is (1) checking general battery health (I've used AccuBattery for a few years now) squared with normal wear and tear of the charge-drain cycles for months/years, and (2) ...

Pixel 6 LineUp Battery

What's up, fellow pixel 6 users.

IMO Google somewhat managed to improve 6/pro battery life since launch, I still read people who got massive drain problems with mobile network.

Important: This is for 4G users.

I have a trick which may help you.

Open phone app --> type star#star#4636#star#star --> information --> prefered network type --> LTE/WCDMA

You may also deactivate adaptive connectivity, but since the may update it works better activated.

Also, if you had problems after upgradi...
