YouTube & YouTube Music are rolling out support for switching playback to cast devices through Android 13's output switcher

It looks like YouTube and YouTube Music are starting to roll out support for the Output Switcher feature on Android 13! I've seen a few reports of this rolling out tonight, from a few Samsung users but also a couple of Pixel users on Android 13. (I myself do not see this yet on a Zenfone 9 or Pixel 6 Pro running Android 13.)

To check if you have this, play something in YouTube/YouTube Music, leave the app, pull down the status bar,...

Here's a summary of EVERYTHING I found in Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 so far.

Hi /r/Android, after Google released the first beta of the second Quarterly Platform Release for Android 13 (ie. Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1), I've been meticulously poring over the build to document what's new, including both user-facing and under-the-hood changes. As usual, I've been sharing my discoveries as I discover them via Twitter.

I know many don't like Twitter, so here's a summary of what I found in Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1, so ...

apk.sh, make reverse engineering Android apps easier!

# 🕹 apk.sh

[apk.sh](https://github.com/ax/apk.sh) is a Bash noscript that makes reverse engineering Android apps easier, automating some repetitive tasks like pulling, decoding, rebuilding and patching an APK.

## Features

apk.sh basically uses [apktool](https://ibotpeaches.github.io/Apktool/) to disassemble, decode and rebuild resources and some bash to automate the [frida](https://https://frida.re/) gadget injection process. It also supports app bundles/split APKs.

Disable those nasty banner ads on Infinix phones

1. Go to "Settings"
2. Search for "Display over other apps"
3. Switch "App Update" to "not allowed"

While you are at it, maybe disallow some other apps to display over other apps. There might be other apps that display ads as well.

This worked for me and both of my Infinix phones now do no longer show those annoying banner ads when unlocking.

Good for Infinix / XOS, but likely to work with Tecno / HiOS....

Why Android phones need so much RAM - an explanation of the "iPhone has no RAM" myth

TL;DR: Every Android app is a separate JVM with separately allocated RAM, most of which sits empty.

I get mad whenever this comes up - some "expert" claiming Apple should finally up the RAM to compete with Android. Someone with a tad bit more knowledge can reply by saying iPhones have "better memory management" and therefore don't need the extra memory. While that is partially true, it doesn't really explain much, and suggests that this "great memory management" is Apple's amazing achieveme...
