Oneplus Nord 1 - Long term review after 3 years. How are you doing with yours?

Hi everyone,
Here are the good and the evil of my OP Nord 1 after 3 years of every day use

- Performance: Still pretty fast and satisfying, never had an issue. I keep open multiple apps and switch between them buttery smooth.

- Battery: We can feel its age but it gets me through the day till dinner and give some juice If going out at night.
Went to a live concert a couple days ago and I did 2 hours of Maps and a lot of video recordings and it was holding very well. Maybe I'll replace the bat...

Why is an Android-desktop-mode like Samsung DeX not standard in every flagship phone (or even mid-range) and part of AOSP yet? (discussion)

There are basically only 3 requirements most devices are lacking:

* A very fast port and the protocols for the video signal
* A super basic window manager
* A basic dock

Things a ton of phones already have: High resolution output, decently powerful SoCs, enough RAM, USB-OTG, BT and multi-band wifi for periphery, USB mouse and keyboard support.

The whole thing is basically screen mirroring plus. No complicated virtualization, emulation or compatability layers required.

Maybe there are othe...

My experience moving from iOS to Android.

Hey everyone,

I'm writing a post I wish me from a few months ago could read to save myself a lot of time and a lot of searching. I used to be an avid Apple user for a good few years up until their various anti right-to-repair moves and their OSes became stale, boring, and restrictive (although for the last one, they have been like that for a while now). So my adventure started and I tried out a Z Fold 4 (wasn't for me, I never used the inner screen yet had constant anxiety about killing it), a ...

LPT: For anyone who's forgetful.

For the android users out there. There is a part of Google assistant called 'open memory'. You say "hey Google, remember I left my keys in my jacket pocket" and it'll save it indefinitely. Then later when you lost your keys, just say "hey Google where's my keys" and it'll tell you or say "open memory" and it'll open up the list of things you asked it to remember. It works for anything just say "remember X or Y". Very handy I don't have to remember multiple thinks just the words "open memory"....

Android needs to include the ability to record audio from external output devices during screen recordings

I was doing a video interview with an interviewee last week, half of it with my headphones connected. I dropped the headphones midway because we were having issues with Android's screen recorder constantly preventing audio from being sent to my interviewee so they could hear me. This issue would crop up every single time the recorder hit its record limit and I needed to start a new recording.

All of the part of the interview where I was using my headphones did not record any audio from the micr...
