PSA: If you have a Verizon LG Velvet, don't do the Android 13 update, it will brick your phone.

A week ago LG and Verizon released update 16 which included Android 13. It was impressive that despite ending their mobile division 2 years ago and it being a 3 year old phone, LG has updated this phone from Android 10 all the way to 13. We're talking about MetaHuman Animator and LumaLabs, two new applications that allow, respectively, using iPhones as motion capture cameras and scanning entire environments. These innovations are certainly fascinating, but I can't help but wonder: what about Android users?

MetaHuman Animator relies on AI to enable users to ca...

I built an unofficial Nearby Share receiver for macOS

Link to the thing: https://github.com/grishka/NearDrop

I posted here a while ago that I reverse engineered enough of the protocol to build a receiving app that only works over WiFi LAN. I finally made myself make it into something decently usable (and rewrote it in Swift).

If you want just the protocol docs, here you go....
