Certified skylo NTN chips within devices lacking device-level certification with Android 15+ - How this is playing out between the chips and OS?

With Certified Skylo chips with NTN modem support in many devices, along with Android 15+ which supports it, where the carrier device is not officially supported (IE Qualcomms x80 modems are certified but often the phone itself is not, like Oneplus 13, 15, Asus ROG Phone 8 pro), there seems like there's a lot of speculation that non-supported devices will "soon" be able to access NTN via software on Android 16. What I can't figure out is if this is just a pie-in-the-sky hope, or if there's merit...

Best keyboard app?

This seems to have been asked over a year ago, but that is ancient history for phone software. Some of the recommendations are no longer available in the play store.

I'm using SwiftKey and while it is pretty good, the phat phingering and the lack of special characters (like accented letters) is annoying. I'm using milking my Samsung s10+ (android 12 with oneUI 4.1) until it dies or is no longer compatible with my most used apps.

What are you using and why? ...

Google has improved the way the three-dot (or overflow) menu is displayed in Chrome Canary for Android by reducing the time it takes to open. The menu items no longer show a delayed fade-in effect and now appear immediately when the icon is tapped.

DEV I built a power nap app that respects you and your privacy. No ads, no subnoscriptions, and zero data collection.

Hey r/android,

I work day and night shifts, so my sleep schedule is not optimal. I've been looking into power naps as a way to improve my energy levels. I know there are already many napping apps, but I've been frustrated by most of them. Most sleep trackers are full of ads or require you to take certain steps before you can access the power nap feature.

So, I decided to build my own solution. It's designed to be a simple, effective tool to help you get a quality power nap. Based on sleep scie...

It worked. MacroDroid is now unsubscribing me from any political text message.

I donated to a political campaign and I've gotten like eight fundraising text messages since then. So I decided to see if I could get rid of them.

You can use Macrodroid to reply with stop when you receive any text message that has "stop2end" in it.

When a message comes in, Macrodroid reads it and replies with stop and you get unsubscribed....

Exposing the truth: HyperOS 3 ‘AI update’ is just a rebrand

I would like to point out that many of the newly announced “HyperOS 3” features (especially the AI widgets, writing assistant, and AI answer functions) have already been active on my device since the day I bought it — long before any official updates.

This means that these features were pre-installed and simply hidden until the “HyperOS 3” rollout. Now they are being presented as new features, even though nothing has really changed.

I believe this approach to user communication is misleading. ...
