When do you think we'll reach the smartphone plateau?

I remember the days whenever there's a new phone, I would be always on the fence on buying it because it has something new or different to offer from what I currently had.


Now, phones are reaching a point where they almost look the same and offer the same sets of features with unnoticeable performance bumps.

For me, it's starting to feel that the Golden Age of smartphones were from 2012-2016.

Kind of curious what bonkers or cool stuff is out there. Here's random things off the top of my head, not the most clever ones probably.

\-Samsung Notes keeping the stylus in vogue

\-Blackberry Key2 keeping the physical keyboard around

\-The Huawei Mate 20 Pro lets you wirelessly charge other phones by putting them together back-to-back

\-bendy display phones on their way

I'm a sucker for gimmicks and get a bit sad thinking about how phones seemed to have "peaked" and there won't be as muc...

Google should bring RAISR to their Pixel line-up and allow photos to be exported in 4x resolution.

What is RAISR?

RAISR is Google's trainable super-resolution technology ([ref: spoiler expect "ML" and "AI" ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.blog.google/products/google-plus/saving-you-bandwidth-through-machine-learning/amp/))

It'd also be pretty cool if they could partner with NVIDIA to bring their [video slow-motion transformer](https://news.developer.nvidia.com/transforming-standard-video-into-slow-motion-with-ai/) to the platform as well (maybe allow it as an edit in Google Photos?).
