Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 vs Samsung Exynos 9820 Early Performance Comparison & Analysis

These are two unreleased SOCs, with probably a bunch of tuning to do, but I have found some Geekbench results and with the help of /u/CatMerc, analyzed why the results are displaying as they are. Geekbench isn't the best benchmark, and someone like /u/andreif of Anandtech could explain why, and has in the past in his articles, but it is what we have to work with. He will surely do much more detailed testing with more complete hardware/software which gives a better look. This is just a basic prev...

is the S9 top bezle the slimmest one you can get without using notches or punch holes?

i was just wondering what is the minimum dimention that a top bezel with a camera can get and if the notch kinda prematurely killed every improvement it coumd have had.

what i am wondering is why everyone decided to jump on the notch without us ever having a bezeless phone on all 3 the sides with just a top bezel.

something like a reversed mi mix 2 but as minimal bezel as it can get, i think it would be a really interesting option.

the new sony xz4 might be what i am asking for, i just hope...

OS updates on Android and iOS

Everyone complains about how slow the updates in Android are and praises Apple for fast updates and long-term support, but why there is such a huge difference? I will write down some of the reasons:

* there is no competition in iOS, Apple dictates the prices. For instance, they [can sell a phone that costs 443$ to make for 1250$](https://hothardware.com/news/apple-iphone-xs-max-256gb-build-costs-estimated-at-443), while Android phone manufacturers face very strong competition and ther...

Google app 8.91 seems to have killed reminder notifications

To be clear, this seems to be a new issue. It's not the issue where reminders are late, which is mitigated by unoptimizing the Google app for battery, nor is it the issue where location reminders aren't triggered, which is an old issue. This is for timed reminders.

I have a Pixel 3 and 2XL on Pie, a Nexus 6 and N9 on 7.1.1, and Samsung S4. All on Google app 8.91.5 except for the P2XL which is on 9.5 beta. I stopped getting reminder notifications about 2 days ago, according to the app Notif Log....

[Vendor Backdoor?] Huawei deletes images downloaded from Twitter

So Huawei put a backdoor into their own Android?

Just read a post from a local (Hong Kong) forum saying that a China user using a Huawei phone got his image downloaded from Twitter automatically deleted by the OS.

Doesn't it means that Huawei got backdoor on the user's phone? Probably they have to verify image/checksum with their own (China) server's to do it. Probably why US Government ban their products.

what is the point of curved edges on phone glass?

I'm not talking about the galaxy Edge type curves where the feature is marketed, but rather like on my S7 where the glass just isn't quite flat on the perimeter.

Is it aesthetics? strength? easier to control faults in manufacturing?

It seems like nothing but a downside considering how much harder it is to find a screen protector.

I have a LG G7 on the way and it looks like I need to spend $50 on a protector that involves a UV curing glue to get the edges coated right.

Compare to any $2-4 fl...

The Hybrid

I comfortably switch between Androids and iPhones, and I have to tell you, if you love technology, it’s the best thing ever.

I urge all of you techie folks to use both just so you have a feel for what each has to offer. There are pros and cons on both sides.

I’m currently using an iPhone X, and will most likely switch to a Galaxy S10 next since the Pixel 3 was such a disappointment.

I’ve made the process incredible simple so switching back and forth is no hassle at all. Basically, every tim...

Are the actual flagships being more worthless?

Oneplus was born to kill the flagships, but increasing their price makes more worth buying a One Plus 6/5T than a 6T/7 (when they release it). Most of flagships are removing basic features and selling them as a revolution. Firts was the removable battery, next the SD slot, next the IR sensor, next the home button (i dont care if they include gestures which I like them, but still having navigation buttons makes full screen phones useless), and now the jack, and I can bet that next will be the vo...
