Will a phone with snapdragon 636/660/675 with 3/4gb ram would still be good for the next 3 years?

I know it is a budget/mid range spec but they seem pretty good for these days in terms of multitasking and heavy usage. Just wondering if it is worth it to stick to the same budget/mid range phone for the next few years...

4 GB RAM enough for the future?

Hello,

I just got a Mate 20. It's an amazing piece of hardware, blazingly fast and just beautiful. But in Germany when buying from phone vendors, its only equipped with a small amount of RAM compared to other flagships. So while I enjoy the phone greatly, its a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Everything else is so premium and high end but then the RAM is just 4 GB.

Everyone else already has 6 and 8 GB RAM, so I wonder if that will have an impact for future proofing regarding future O...

Don't get fooled by spec races.

It is very important in commercial electronics to show upgrades every year. This isn't laptops where a modest spec boost every year by itself is acceptable. If a phone doesn't appear to have massive spec bumps, it loses. So when the specs that matter aren't able to be improved, company's brag about less important specs.

Back in the day it was megapixels. Smartphone cameras really sucked until the last 5 years. They couldn't offer any low light quality and had poor sensors. So how did they comp...

Fixing Instagram story zoomed in stories

Coming from an iPhone X, I was very annoyed by the zoomed in issue on Instagram stories on my 6t. On iOS, Instagram will apply a letterbox to make the story fit the display. On 6t, it is just a horrible mess especially if using the full screen gestures.

Anyway I tried to resolve this issue by modifying the layouts of the IG story and IGTV to display them in 16:9 aspect ratio. I am not good in modding Android application or no knowledge in Android programming so there might be issues w...

Does anybody make a smartphone that is basically cross-bred with GoPro type functionality?

What I mean is, does anybody have a turnkey solution where the phone comes with a belt sheath or other holder designed to allow recording audio and video "at the belt", preferably with a good microphone, wide-angle lens and an ultra-tough body?

I've cobbled up a solution using a custom leather "holster" for an LG V30 and so far it's the best covert on-body camcorder I've ever used - and as a political activist I've tried *plenty*. But it's not really optimized for this kind of use.

Does anybo...

If Samsung ditches the headphone jack from the Galaxy S11/Note 11 onwards, how would you personally feel about this?

It's a huge problem for me personally as I use the headphone jack all the time.

It's going to make selecting a future replacement for my S7 Edge (keeping my phone for another year as I would have had it for 4 years by then) really hard as I don't like buying older phones due to the lack of Android support after a short while (As the Galaxy S10 will be a year old at that point).

So yeah what would your thoughts be on this?...
