A very brief Xiaomi Mi 9 hands-on

[Pics](https://imgur.com/a/TwGW9fR)

Obviously, the Mi store in China had them the second day after the announcement. I just went to one today and played for a few minutes. I have a Mi 8.

Bezels: It has less chin than Mi 8, and I think it has slightly less top and side bezels too.

Size and shape: By the specification, Mi 9 and Mi 8 have almost identical width, thickness, and weight, but taller. The screen aspect ratio is different too. However, due to Mi 9's curved back and much tapered sides...

A new way to disable AMP results from Google Search using Chrome on Android.

(You will need Adguard)

So Adguard have been working hard on their big v3.0 update. There is a Beta channel for users to test the latest and greatest. Included are some new options, including a 'Stealth' module. One of the settings within allows the changing of the User Agent string when using your Browser of choice.

This means you can use Google Search on Chrome again and not be presented with a page full of AMP results. Or any AMP results at all for that matter!

The UA String that's working...

Apparently the S10 Shoots Portrait Mode Using The Wide Angle Lens And No Longer Telephoto Lens?

I was watching a youtuber talk about the camera and they mentioned this. Isn't this a huge mistake? So in order to get a similar close up of say the face. The person now has to walk closer to the person and take the photo. Which is the opposite of what most photographers do, since they usually walk further away from the target, and use the optical zoom to get closer. I believe to avoid distortion.

Isn't this a large problem?...

Samsung is being praised on r/apple.

Very impressive, Samsung, very impressive -

I would like to what r/Android thinks of this. It's impressive how far Galaxy devices have come and they are just getting better and better.

Like really, Samsung listened to it's customers by keeping the headphone jack and micro sd card support. Also, it is pushing boundaries on display technology and actually trying to introduce a new form factor to the market....

The Galaxy Fold is the Note Edge of Today

Bruh. Think back to the Note Edge. It was ugly, janky, and nobody liked it, but it pretty much created the whole no bezel curved glass notch situation that is today..... the galaxy fold will probably do the same thing... Damn...

Early impressions of S10's fingerprint sensor are not good.

Most people that saw and used the S10 at Samsungs conference were impressed but the tech community folks that are currently writing reviews for the phone seem to have a very different opinion.

Dave2D, Engadget, CNet, among a few others, have posted early thoughts on the fingerprint sensor and virtually everyone is saying it's about as slow as the OnePlus and also not very accurate in normal conditions.

So what gives? Wondering if I should cancel my pre-order and go for the S10E instead....

If you use Nord VPN's Play Store app, be advised that Google has stripped it of its most useful feature.

Google bans ad blockers that work at the device level from the Play Store.

Nord VPN provides total ad blocking at the *network level* when CyberSec is enabled, **but only if you download the .apk from their website.** The site doesn't advertise this feature, but if it's the .apk, it's the correct one.

To determine if you are affected, ad blocking is easily testable with [Pi-Hole](https://pi-hole.net/pages-to-test-ad-blocking-performance/)

Blocking at the network level bans ads across all app...
