LineageOS 16.0 ported to the Galaxy S8 and S8+

Despite not having Treble, the **Galaxy S8 Exynos** and **S8+ Exynos** have had LineageOS 16.0 ported to them in the last two weeks or so.

All base features are working except the fingerprint scanner, although that is next on the list.

General reports from most users (including myself) are that it is stable with only minor issues on some model variants. People with the "murata" WI-FI chip will not have WI-FI capability, this is being worked on as well.

Are rugged smartphones built with high quality parts from the inside?

For example, the Dell Latitude 14 Rugged is not only different on the outside compared to the other laptops in the Latitude series but it has high quality components on the inside too; do rugged smartphone manufacturers do something similar to this or is the inside virtually the same as other smartphones if opened up?...

The Galaxy S10's Panoramas are a HUGE downgrade

I was trying out the camera on my new Galaxy S10 today, and I noticed a huge difference from my old S9. The panoramas, which can *only* be taken with the ultra-wide camera, have almost no detail. You can be the judge yourself:

Although the wide-angle panoramas have a generally pleasing composition and good exposure control, they have very little fine detail, and the photo's texture is completely l...

I imported a Galaxy S10e from HK to the UK and wanted to share this experience

IN a few comments over the past week I'd mentioned I bought the Snapdragon version of the S10e and at a really great price (£489, it's still £669 in the UK).

People asked about OTAs, import fees and what bands are supported etc etc so I thought I'd create a post covering all of these and sharing my overall experience with a device not made for my region.

**Import duty/tax:**

In the past when I'm bought grey import electronics, they've been handled by FedEx or ParcelForce. I have bee...

[Discussion] Ideal phone hardware

OEMs may be running behind extremely thin phones, 99% screen to body ratio and `n` front cameras. That may be attractive to some audience and profitable for them by making parts irreplaceable & hard to repair.

But how does the enthusiast community want their phone to be?

(Eg: With hardware, it may be replaceable battery / screen etc, 3.5 mm jack etc.. and with software, I am pretty sure everyone hates bloated UIs.)...
