Android Q and later ruins a huge amount of features, APIs and apps - a call for votes

Over the past years, I've noticed that Android got more and more restrictions, but there was always an explanation and alternatives.

However, on Android Q and later, there are just so many changes that are planned, that will ruin apps and the experience to users. Please check those up, search more about them on the issue tracker, star those issues, and optionally write something inside them :

[Meta] The sidebar is partly very outdated, any solution?

Hi guys and girls,

as a good reddit user i wanted to read the sidebar od r/android before posting and found a linknto the wiki or r/pickanandroid

the wiki pages with the phone suggestions is really outdated recommending moto g5 when the g7 is already released for less of what the g5 had cost.
Also some other stuff is missing or not relevant anymore as well...

i was wondering if this was a real issue or is abbandoned and/or legacy wiki pages

can one volunteer to do some maintainance?...

Huawei P30 Pro's camera isn't the best

Huawei has good cameras for sure, but the new P30 Pro definitely isn't the best when it comes to picture quality, color accuracy, exposure, dynamic range, etc etc. I think the reason people think it's the best is because of the 50x zoom marketing--which to me seems gimmicky. It has a 50x zoom, but its overall picture isn't good enough to be top tier.

The best would still be Pixel/iPhones.

I would say Huawei is around the same as Samsung. Not saying their cameras are bad--good cameras--just no...

"Note10 uses the same main camera S5K2L4 as the Galaxy S10, but with the previous year, Samsung will add new features to it (there is a very technical feature), Note10 is the end of the 1.4μm camera, starting from S11, Samsung camera will be a new beginning."

Does your phone's camera have a focus lock indicator?

Something I really like about Nokia's (including the old ones) is that they have a focus lock indicator. It will let you know if whatever you are pointing at is actually in focus. Unfortunately Pixel for example does not have such a feature, so I'm not sure when I'm taking a close up photo if the subject is actually in focus.

Here's an [example on Lumia 950](https://streamable.com/iehri) of what I mean. You get too close, the focus does not lock. I wonder if it's just the Pixel that is lacking ...

I discovered a root-free technique to reprogram the Bixby button on Samsung after Android Pie [OC]

Before I updated to Android Pie, I used an app called bxActions to reprogram the Bixby button since I do not use Bixby and do not wish to be spied on by it. After the update, it doesn't work anymore. After some tinkering, I found a ROOT-FREE technique to get my bind working again.

1. Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot on your computer ([xda link](https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790))
2. enable USB debugging on your phone: Settings>About phone>Software information> Tap "Build...

Got this weird survey from Google. Are they thinking of getting rid of Assistant in Android Auto?

Just got this survey a few hours ago. The AA UI seems kind of dated but I'm not sure why would get rid of Assistant in the car.

Cross posted in Universal profile as well but after a user reported being allowed to enable RCS on AT&T, I checked my phone and was allowed to do the same!
