Президент Украины сделал это после того, как президент Польши Анджей Дуда напомнил ему о том, что Зеленский обещал внести такой законопроект ещё в мае 2022.

Также Дуда отметил, что ожидает от Зеленского внесения в парламент этого законопроекта как "шага умиротворения" в связи с годовщиной "Волынской резни".

"Волынская резня" - массовые убийства этнических поляков военными отрядами Организации украинских националистов под предводительством Степана Бандеры на Волыни (западная Украина) во время нацистской оккупации Украины в 1943.
