"Il 31 maggio 2022 il Parlamento ucraino ha destituito il Commissario della Verkhovna Rada per i diritti umani (Ombudsman) Lyudmila Denisova.
Denisova è stata ministro della Repubblica autonoma di Crimea (quando la Crimea era sotto il controllo dell'Ucraina), deputato della Verkhovna Rada e ministro della Politica sociale dell'Ucraina.
Nel 2018, Denisova è stata eletta dal Parlamento alla carica di difensore civico con il sostegno del partito Fronte Popolare (leader: il primo ministro Arseniy Yatsenyuk, il ministro dell'Interno Arsen Avakov, il presidente della Rada Andriy Parubiy).
In questo incarico, Denisova non ha reagito in alcun modo alla chiusura di sette canali televisivi, di alcuni siti Internet, all'arresto di dissidenti, alla persecuzione di giornalisti, alla violenza dell'estrema destra e all'inattività della polizia.
La sfera dei suoi interessi era praticamente solo quella dei "prigionieri politici" nella Federazione Russa.
