The protests have been swelling despite it being nearly midnight in Egypt.

🇪🇬⚡️- Some Egyptian outlets are claiming protests in Cairo are old footage, being spread by "the enemy" to "provoke people."

This, however, is not true. The protests in Cairo right now are actually happening.

🇪🇬🇮🇱 - A few days ago, President Sisi held emergency talks with the Israeli intelligence to discuss possible Israeli protection for the government against in case of a popular uprising. Egyptian intelligence, Mukhabarat, feared the events in Syria could fuel a similar uprising in Egypt too.

The reports were confirmed by Ma'ariv.

🇪🇬⚡- Local Cairo outlet, Diwan, claims the protests are definitely real but at the moment remain small. However, Diwan says a lot of the videos being circulated are old.

🇪🇬⚡- Cairo outlet, al-Qahera, denies rumors of protests against the government.

There are likely small, incidental protests in the poorer suburbs of Cairo, however nothing serious that would threaten Sisi's regime.
