• nonetheless, characterizing the uprising as an attempt to restore ISIS rule in Syria is misguided at best - Daesh is a spent force and would be unable to launch an attack on this scale, as shown by their recent attempt to capture territory in Syria.
• claims made by Kurds that Arab movements (especially pro-Turkey ones) are Trojan horses for Daesh should be taken with a grain of salt, given the long-standing tensions between Rojava and Ankara.
