Presumed hackers boasted on BreachForums to have gained access to up 70 million files from police data and obtaining sensible information of up to 16.4 million french citizens. They accessed the following services : the major file of criminal backgrounds (TAJ), the "wanted persons of interest" list (FPR), alongside data from the General Public Finances Direction and the National Pension Fund.

Interior Ministry officials have not confirmed such data had been hacked but admitted the hackers gained access to softwares used by "certain identification systems" within the ministry. There is no clear lead yet, per officials, as a formal investigation has been launched.

The university clarified that the individual being doxed has no relevance to the investigation, and that if they did, law enforcement would be actively investigating them and providing information to the public.

To all of those accusing us of perpetuating or support the doxxing of this student, we repeatedly stated that 1) the individual COULD NOT be verified as the shooter, and 2) to not stalk or dox said individual.

Our reporting covered legitimate, substantiated evidence and correlations that were worthy of coverage. Brown University, as we wanted them to do, dismissed the potential conclusions of those pieces of evidence by refuting all possibility that the said student was the shooter.

Not once have we accused the student of being the shooter, and we explicitly stated to NOT attack, dox, or stalk the student.
