One interesting detail is that one of the C‑17As departed from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) “Night Stalkers”, which was founded directly after the failed U.S. rescue operation in Iran in 1980, specializing in Delta Force operations and were likely involved in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro.

At least two of the C‑17s have landed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
