⚡🇳🇬 At the start of the week the Nigerian army launched operations in the Timbuktu Triangle in Borno State. The operation had largely been successful in clearing ISWAP hideouts, that was until yesterday.
A suicide attack was followed by powerful IEDs targeted a Nigerian army camp in Timbuktu Triangle, which killed least 20 soldiers. Nigerian helicopters arrived at the scene to evacuate the casualties.
Moments after the evacuations were complete, ISWAP ambushed the camp which led to a violent battle. Another 8 Nigerian soldiers were killed in the battle and over 50 were injured.
The Nigerian army abandoned the camp and withdrew south of Timbuktu Triangle.
