Fisher of Men

To Europe - at the cost of their lives. More and more migrants are dying on their way to Old World countries.

The deadliest route is the Central Mediterranean where nearly three thousand refugees have died since last January. They are mostly people from Libya and Tunisia who wanted to reach Italy and Malta.

Migrants sail to Europe on overcrowded smugglers’ boats and not all make it there alive. The bodies are found in the sea by fishermen, or they drift ashore. Red Crescent volunteer Chamsaddin Marzouk has created the cemetery in southern Tunisia, where he gives the dead migrants a decent burial. We devoted the entire documentary to him and his graveyard – watch Fisher of Men (2019).

By day, Mr. Miller works as a teacher; by night, he is a drag queen who goes by the name Miss Majesty Divine.

It wasn’t enough for this man to just be a drag queen; he decided to attract kids to the ‘profession’ as well. On the attached video, Miller, performing as Miss Majesty Divine, teaches a child how to act as a drag queen and collect tips from adult audience members.

Several weeks ago, Miller was accused of uttering inappropriate sexual comments in front of kids at a drag show. After being made aware of the incident, the school he worked for just temporarily suspended him. Now Miller is back in the classroom.
Is it okay to let this person teach at school?

Frightening statistics of illegal migration to Europe. More than 29,000 refugees have died in the last eight years, according to official sources.

Experts claim, however, that the death toll is many times higher. The so-called ‘invisible shipwrecks’, when entire ships disappeared at sea, were not counted.

It is almost impossible to identify the names of the refugees, who are often buried in unmarked graves. There is a cemetery with dozens of such graves in southern Tunisia. It was founded by Red Crescent volunteer Chamsaddin Marzouk.

Watch our documentary Fisher of Men (2019) to know what makes an ordinary man give migrants a decent burial.

Back to Fukushima

The accident at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant is known as the Japanese Chernobyl. In terms of severity, it was assigned a seven, the highest level on the International Nuclear Event Scale.

In March 2011, an earthquake and the tsunami that followed it de-energized the station, the reactors overheated, and then explosions occurred at three power units. The nearby settlements were poisoned by radiation.

People left their homes to flee from the disaster. A decade later, they are returning. Why? Learn about this in our documentary Back to Fukushima (2019). We are posting it on the World Tsunami Awareness Day.

These photos and video show the aftermath of Storm Nalgae in the Philippines that killed over 120 people.

The natural disaster triggered widespread flooding and landslides. In some parts of the Philippines, homes have almost completely disappeared under water, and nearly 900,000 people have been evacuated. Now urban areas are experiencing power outages and water problems.

Typhoons and storms are common in the Philippines (about 20 occurrences each year). The Indonesian capital, Jakarta, also suffers from flooding. The authorities have even considered moving the capital to another location. How do the locals live under such conditions? Watch the series No Way Back: Water to know.

Never Furget

Harp seals are at risk of going extinct because of global warming. These animals give birth on drifting ice floes, which in recent years have been melting rapidly.

Baby seals are also called seal pups. Until recently, their numbers have declined because of hunters. Hundreds of thousands of seal pups were killed during the season by hunters and indigenous peoples.

Harp seals are not the only species that can disappear forever. There are many other endangered animals, and for that people are mostly to blame. On Day of Remembrance for Animals Killed by Man, watch Never Furget (2021), about the baby seals that have been hunted by men for decades.
