The British occupied parts of the continent from the 1880’s to the beginning of the 20th century. They did this mainly to ensure their dominance in trade and maintain their geopolitical influence. Their African colonies included Nigeria, Sudan, Ghana, Kenya and Rhodesia – now Zimbabwe. The British took the most fertile lands in these countries, as they needed coffee, tea, cotton, and more to develop their industry. They did all this using the ‘divide and conquer’ principle, so the Africans wouldn’t rise up. They didn’t hesitate to use the English language, English traditions, and religion to reach their goals either. This cultural dominance still remains in some African countries.

872 days of hell. That's how long the siege of Leningrad lasted. Almost 3 million people were trapped within the encirclement. But the Nazis had no plans to save lives. Their goal was to raze the city to the ground.

German troops hit Leningrad mercilessly. They fired 150 thousand shells and dropped more than 107 thousand incendiary and high-explosive bombs. Losses among the civilian population, according to different estimates, range from 600 thousand to 1.5 million. Citizens didn’t only die in the relentless bombardment, but from appalling hunger, cold and untreated disease.

Exhausted and tired Leningraders worked to their last breath for their shared victory. They worked without rest in factories and still donated blood. Their courage should live forever in collective memory!

On the day of hero-city’s liberation from the Nazi blockade, don’t miss Dmitry Khrustalev and Ekaterina Kitaitseva's documentary, ‘Leningrad: Unbreakable’ (2024).

In Eternal Memory: On International Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the horrors of the Minsk Ghetto. Around 120,000 Jews went through it, and only 10,000 survived.

The start of the Holocaust is believed to be July 31st, 1941, when Hermann Göring, the Vice-Chancellor of Nazi Germany, issued an order to develop plans for a ‘final solution to the Jewish problem’. Fascists murdered entire families by shooting, gassing, or starving them.

In a scene from the film ‘Holocaust: The Questions I Never Asked’ (2022), survivors share their tragic memories.

⚡️What's in Trump's plan for Ukraine? The answer may be in our cards. This document was published on a Ukrainian news site. It claims that the Americans gave the ‘100-day plan’ to European politicians who passed it on to Ukraine. The document’s authenticity is not confirmed.

Trump seems to be trying to appear as a peacemaker, although he himself had a hand in fuelling the conflict in Ukraine having started the supply of weapons to Kiev, and US authorities continued doing so.

Interference in other countries’ politics, military invasions under false pretences... Why does America do it? Some of the answers can be found in Vyacheslav Guz’s, film, ‘Coups R US’ (2018).

🐧Mysterious Antarctica: A Russian Expedition Discovered This Continent 205 Years Ago.

Russia’s Antarctic exploration began in 1819 when Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev led an expedition from Kronstadt to Rio de Janeiro. They travelled on the ships, Vostok and Mirny, and their voyage was full of challenges and danger. The objective was to explore the supposed areas around the South Pole.

Heading south, the Russian navigators finally reached Earth’s sixth continent (or 5th, depending on your perspective) in 1820. This discovery launched a whole new field of exploration.

Many interesting facts and stories can be found in Antarctica. To learn more, watch our film, ‘Antarctica: Terra Somniantes’ (2020).
