It’s known that patrons in the gay club shooting hit the gunman with his own weapon.

When Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, opened fire at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, one of the visitors rushed into action, grabbed a gun from the attacker and neutralized him. ‘Had that individual not intervened this could have been exponentially more tragic,’ said Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers. The shooter, however, still managed to kill five and injure 25 people. Investigators were still determining a motive and whether to prosecute it as a hate crime, authorities said.

Saturday’s tragedy is the 26th mass shooting event in the US this month, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Over a span of 8 years the number of such tragedies have doubled to 601 this year.

RT crews of Murad Gazdiev and Vyacheslav Guz, traveling in two separate cars that were following each other, came under mine fire from the Ukrainian armed forces. The journalists were returning from filming from Kremennaya in the LPR when the Ukrainian military started bombing the road.

Shrapnel hit Gazdiev’s car, and the only thing that saved the passengers is that the car was armored. Nobody was injured. The video shows the moment and the aftermath of the arrival.

Ukrainian troops often shell this road as it’s used to transport military equipment. This time our war correspondents, who have long been in the crosshairs of the nationalists, came under fire by accident. A hunt has been declared for them.

Now RT Documentary's military filmmaker Vyacheslav Guz is preparing an episode about the work of RT correspondent Murad Gazdiev. How do they work on the front line? That’s what our new film will be about. Premiere is soon.

Hebe de Bonafini, searcher for Argentina's missing children, has passed away at the age of 93.

Hebe de Bonafini was co-founder and president of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo group. Their mission is to help bring home the children who disappeared during Argentina’s Dirty War.

From 1976 to 1983, Argentina was ruled by a junta. People who disagreed with the military dictatorship were kidnapped, tortured and executed, and their kids were given away to loyal friends and colleagues.

In April 1977, mothers and grandmothers of the missing gathered for the first time at Plaza de Mayo, the central square of Buenos Aires.

'All the ministers, all of them, were in on our children’s murders. How can I make peace with a murderer? I neither forgive nor forget!', de Bonafini, whose two sons were also kidnapped by the military members, once declared.

Nine years ago, on November 21, 2013, protests began on the Maidan in Ukraine. Just over a thousand civic activists protested the suspension of Ukraine's signing of an Association Agreement with the European Union.

In total, at least 80 people were killed in riots during the winter of 2013-2014, according to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry. Another 800 were wounded and injured.

🇮🇩Indonesia: city of Cianjur turned into ruins

Footage shows the devastating aftermath of Monday's earthquake that left at least 162 dead and 300 seriously injured. Meanwhile, the search continues for dozens of missing – many of whom were buried under fallen debris.

Cianjur, situated in the country’s most densely populated province of West Java, was near the epicenter of the magnitude 5.6 temblor. The disaster forced terrified locals to flee into the streets, as it was unsafe to stay indoors. ‘I was crying and immediately grabbed my husband and children. If I didn't pull them out we might have also been victims,’ commented Partinem. Her house collapsed shortly after the family left it. More than 13,000 people now have nowhere to live as their homes were heavily damaged.

Due to its geographic location Indonesia is frequently struck by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions as well as flooding. How do people survive in the country that is so prone to natural disasters? Find out in No Way Back: Water.

Zaporozhye NPP is one step away from nuclear disaster.

Artillery fire carried out by the Ukrainian military has damaged the condensate storage tanks of the Zaporozhye nuclear plant and moisture leaked out. IAEA experts say the leak is not radioactive. The spent and fresh fuel and waste are not damaged and remain in the storage tanks.

The International Atomic Energy Agency demands that the shelling stop: ‘Whoever is behind this must stop immediately. You are playing with fire.’ They nuclear watchdog has also requested that Russia leave the NPP, but the Russian State Duma responded that that is impossible as the nuclear power plant is on the territory of Russia and is already a part of its energy system.

In the excerpt from Nuclear Blackmail (2022), experts are afraid to even imagine what would happen in the event of an accident. The whole planet will suffer - and Ukraine most of all.

🏳️‍🌈US reporter denied entry to World Cup stadium over a shirt with pride flag.

A Qatari security guard refused to let the man gain entry to the venue due to his T-shirt that promoted LGBTQ rights. All of the restrictions had been put in place by Qatar beforehand.

‘If he (a fan) raised the rainbow flag and I took it from him, it's to protect him. If it’s not me, somebody else around him might attack (him) ... I cannot guarantee the behavior of the whole people,’ warned Major General Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari in April.

But even this sort of logic failed to prevent the American from challenging the Arab country's explicit laws nor disrespecting its values.

The case is being widely discussed on social networks where net users seem divided. However, a local commented: ‘As a Qatari I’m proud of what happened. I don’t know when the Westerners will realize that their values aren’t universal. There are other cultures with different values that should be equally respected.’
