So, how do you rescue and care for a brown bear cub that has been separated from its mother? The Pazhetnov family from the Tver region are the experts; they run their own nursery for orphaned bear cubs.

In Russia’s Volgograd, Ivan shares his home with Grey, the wolf. This unusual pet brings plenty of challenges for the former hunter, yet the profound bond between man and wolf endures through it all.

From across Russia, wild animals and birds – often injured by people – are brought to the ‘Phoenix’ centre. Its founders, Sergey and Veronika, nurse the injured back to health, providing food, shelter and dedicated care.

Mansur was found as a cub at an airfield in Orlovka. An attempt to place the little one in a nature reserve nearly ended in tragedy. He was saved by a pilot named Andrey, and since then, Mansur is living a true bear’s tale – even enjoying a splash in his very own pool!

Biologist Alexey Tikhonov fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to South Africa, where he became the guardian of ten lions he rescued from certain death. He has also founded a charity dedicated to helping wild cats.
