🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question about the EU-NATO Joint Declaration signed in Brussels

Read in full

Question: How would you comment on the Joint Declaration on EU-NATO Cooperation signed in Brussels?

💬 Maria Zakharova: The Joint Declaration on EU-NATO Cooperation has reaffirmed the EU’s full subordination to the bloc, which is a military instrument being used to ensure US interests.

Contrary to all their OSCE obligations, they view security in the Euro-Atlantic area through the prism of standing up to Russia, increasing weapons and equipment supplies to the Kiev regime, enhancing military mobility in the European “theatre of war,” and continuing NATO’s expansion.

It is clear that NATO’s and EU’s confrontational approach towards states that pursue independent foreign policies, and their attempts to divide the world into “us and them” will only hinder the peaceful settlement of conflicts and weaken international security against the persisting challenge of terrorism, which has been mentioned in the declaration.

☝️ The Americans’ motives are crystal clear. They want to pull the EU into the “geostrategic competition,” as it is described in the declaration, which Washington has launched so that Europe will play the role of America’s vassal, rapidly ceding its political and economic positions and hence becoming increasingly more dependent on the United States.

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC debate "Promotion and strengthening of the rule of law in the maintenance of international peace and security: the rule of law among nations"

💬 When raising the issue of rule of law, our former Western partners only seek to promote the point about Russia’s alleged responsibility for the emerging threats to international peace and security. While doing this, they dismiss the blatant violations of their own.

Of course, we cannot agree to this narrative, which completely fits into the “rules-based order” concept, where the rules are dictated by the West. This narrative is simply false and contrary to the norms of the international law, including the UN Charter.

❗️ The real causes of the Ukrainian crisis are the arrogance of the West and its absolute unwillingness to take into account the interests of others, even when it comes to such crucial aspects as security of a state.

The collective West blatantly violated the international law and the legal order based on the rule of this law, once NATO air-dropped first bombs on Yugoslavia.

Then there was the “war on terror” which led to the devastation and many years of occupation of Afghanistan.

Everyone remembers NATO’s false-flag aggression against Iraq, which they explained by Iraq’s allegedly possession of WMDs.

Then came Libya, where the same concept of “humanitarian intervention” was used, but under a different name. This time it was “responsibility to protect”.

Next one on the list of states who suffered from the “rule of law American style” is Syria.

👉 The manmade Ukrainian crisis that I mentioned earlier fits perfectly well in this chain of events that were caused by colonial thinking and hegemony of the West. Everyone who looks at it without bias can clearly see that Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine is a consequence rather than the root cause of the Ukrainian crisis, which is at least 9 years old.

#Opinion by Maria Zakharova

💬 German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has once again "distinguished" herself as a diplomat by accusing Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of lying to her.

Here is an exact quote of the German Foreign Minister: “At the press conference in Moscow, I asked Sergey Lavrov how else the 150,000 soldiers on the border with Ukraine could be understood except as a threat. His reply: that it was normal military exercises <…>. Russia has always claimed that its aim was to protect the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine. And then we had to watch as Mariupol was razed to the ground, as the Russian tanks brought not baby food, but death, suffering and destruction to the whole of Ukraine.”

Mentioning tanks and baby food was probably some kind of wordplay. In fact, Russia has been delivering tonnes of baby food, clothes and medicine to Donbass for eight long years, with people like Annalena looking at the white trucks through their binoculars and talking about trucks carrying tanks for an invasion.

She did not ask a single question during the news conference. Instead, she referred to Sergey Lavrov as her “dear colleague” and talked about cooperation prospects. She did, in fact, mention Ukraine in her opening remarks, right after Navalny: “Russia in recent weeks has amassed more than 100,000 troops with guns and tanks near the Ukraine border. It is hard not to understand that as a threat.” After that the journalists, rather than Baerbock, asked the two ministers their questions – this is how this format works. Here is what Sergey Lavrov answered to a similar question from a journalist, and not from Germany’s minister: “We explained that the ‘escalation’ mentioned by many Western politicians actually means the presence of our troops on our own territory, holding exercises for the purposes of combat training. Every country does this. We made it clear that we cannot accept any demands that concern the Russian armed forces on our own territory.”

Now to the lying part. Angela Merkel’s home folk better keep it to themselves. Lies is what Baerbock and all her predecessors, or at least three of them in this position, starting with Frank-Walter Steinmeier, have been telling about the Minsk agreements for more than seven years.

But thanks to Merkel’s revelations we now know that “the 2014 Minsk agreements were an attempt to give time to Ukraine. It also used this time to become stronger.”

After so many years of lies about the commitment to the Minsk agreements, and continuing to lie today, Annalena Baerbock has no moral right whatsoever to talk about what is true and what is a lie.

⚡️ Regarding the real damage to the people of India caused by the 🇬🇧 British colonial policy

Read in full

💬 Speculations about the alleged positive impact of the British colonial rule on various London-controlled territories, including in Asia, regularly turn up in the media and the Internet. In this connection, we noted a report that was recently published on multipolarista.com: the article has references to the work by economic anthropologist Jason Hickel and his colleague Dylan Sullivan “Capitalism and extreme poverty: A global analysis of real wages, human height, and mortality since the long 16th century,” published by the World Development academic journal.

The authors conclude that around 100 million Indians fell victim to London’s deliberate policy from 1880 to 1920, which is considered to be the peak of the British colonial rule in India. The census data conducted by the British during that period indicate the growth of mortality from 37.2 per 1,000 people in the 1880s to 44.2 in the 1910s, as well as life expectancy among Indians dropping from 26.7 to 21.9 years, respectively.

<...>

Against this background, Winston Churchill’s statements about the horrifying developments in Bengal look openly racist: “I hate Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion.” The British prime minister justified the lack of measures to fight the famine by the fact that Indians “will always breed like rabbits.”

In addition, the article quotes Indian economist Utsa Patnaik as saying that during the colonial period, the British empire siphoned out £9.2 trillion ($45 trillion) of wealth from India, calculated in the prices of that time.

This data clearly shows how the British got wealthier at the expense of India, how they exploited and caused the deaths of the local people, whom they deeply despised.

❗️ The current London’s democracy games look cynical and toxic against this background.

⚠️ More planted US reports on “events” in Bucha.

👉 Read in full

💬 We consider the article recently published in The New York Times regarding the so-called “Bucha events” an attempt to keep the fabricated version afloat by substantiating the allegations and accusations planted by the Kiev regime back in the spring.

👉 Read in full

It should be stated right away that, despite the big announcement, the video clip featured in the article by The New York Times, footage that was obviously edited, contains NOTHING that can prove any accusations against the Russian military circulated by the West at the instigation of their Ukrainian “clients.”

Apparently, an objective investigation in the West is out of the question: the guilty parties were named immediately and now the propaganda machine hammers together fakes without much care for the credibility of details. We are dealing with quality propaganda built on quite lifelike video footage, subjected, however, to sophisticated manipulation and skilfully commented to trigger an emotional response.

<...>

🤷‍♂️ The speculations about the causes of death of certain individuals are based on suggestions made by journalists themselves. For example, the footage showing Russian troops firing in an undetermined direction is commented by a voice claiming that the shot killed a person whose body was found exactly within the weapon’s range on the same street. The credibility of sources and data used in the report also raises doubts. Moreover, the release material was previewed by Ukrainian police officers, the Security Service of Ukraine and Bucha Deputy Mayor Mikhaylina Skorik-Shkarovskaya.

❗️ Those initiating this and similar information attacks should realise that sooner or later, they will be held accountable for libel. The patrons and curators of the Ukrainian regime, along with those killing civilians in Donbass and executing unarmed Russian prisoners of war, will be tried at a tribunal in Donetsk and Lugansk. Retribution is inevitable.

⚡️ Emergency statement by Joint Coordination Headquarters of Russian Federation for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine

◽️ The Security Service of Ukraine is preparing for a large-scale provocation in the next few days to discredit Russia's activity within the 'grain deal', and to accuse of creating 'shortage of food' in Ukraine.

◽️ In Karaichnoye (Kharkov region), the Ukrainian intelligence service is planting mines in a granary. After its explosion, the Russian Federation will be accused of the allegedly 'intentional elimination of grain stocks in Ukraine', 'sparking starvation', and therefore 'disrupting the grain deal'. Western media will present this incident as 'another atrocity committed by Russian forces' that requires a 'harsh response of the international community'.

◽️ A group of up to 30 Ukrainian professionals in explosives and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine arrived to Volchansk (Kharkov region) for preparing the sabotage.

◽️ The granary is owned by V. Uvarov, a non-staff employee of the Security Service of Ukraine. There are also identification data for A. Tkachuk, the chief of the group, and all of its members as well as their current location: in the military commissariat of Volchansk (Dukhovnaya st., 29).

◽️ In the wake of Ukrainian army's failures, and on the eve of the meeting of the NATO defence ministers in Ramstein (Germany) on 20 January, these resounding provocations are used by Kiev authorities to put more pressure on the opinion of Western countries for achieving large-scale supplies of modern armaments and hardware for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

🇷🇺🇹🇷📞 President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation.

The Presidents reaffirmed their intention to further develop comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Türkiye. Their priorities include energy cooperation, in part, supplies of Russian natural gas and the creation of a regional gas hub in Türkiye.

The Presidents continued exchanging views on the developments around Ukraine. They reviewed the exchange of POWs, primarily the wounded, at Türkiye’s initiative and with account for the recent meetings of the Russian and Ukrainian human rights commissioners in Ankara.

Vladimir Putin emphasised the Kiev regime’s destructive policy of continuing to intensify the hostilities with the support of its Western sponsors, which are still sending more arms and combat equipment to Ukraine. Kiev’s hypocritical policy is illustrated by its refusal to accept a proposal on a ceasefire during the Orthodox Christmas.

The Presidents discussed the implementation of the Istanbul package agreements of July 22, 2022, on Ukrainian grain exports from Black Sea ports and the unblocking of food and fertiliser shipments from Russia.

In addition, the Presidents discussed ways to normalise relations between Türkiye and Syria, including Ankara’s initiative to launch consultations with the participation of Russian, Türkish and Syrian representatives. They also noted the practical importance of joint efforts by Russia, Türkiye and Iran to promote Syrian settlement in the context of the Astana agreements.

🇷🇺🇧🇾 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko

Minsk, January 19, 2023

💬 Sergey Lavrov: The meeting of the two boards is as timely as never. The agenda will focus on the situation that developed as a result of the course for total domination, which is pursued by our Western colleagues led by the Americans who got everyone to follow their orders. We can see it in NATO’s and the EU’s stances. The Council of Europe is already following this road. Many problems have accumulated in the OSCE. These are the main issues on our agenda together with cooperation with international organisations, where it is important to prevent the “privatisation” of secretariats. The West is intent on doing this as well.

It is especially important to coordinate our actions related to human rights protection in the Human Rights Council and other mechanisms where the Westerners are trying to politicise discussions that must be held on the basis of the existing international humanitarian law.

☝️ As for the special military operation, together with our Belarusian allies and friends, we are taking all the necessary measures to protect ourselves from potential encroachment, as you said, by your Western neighbours.

We see how NATO is making itself comfortable in Northern Europe (Finland and Sweden), which used to be a neutral territory to a large extent. All this is happening close to our borders.

❗️ I absolutely agree with you that the agreements reached by the two Presidents in our miliary-technical, military and defence cooperation are well-timed in terms of raising our preparedness for any developments.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: Our and your Western neighbours have openly stated their goal of curbing our and the Union State’s development. The West is trying, in every possible way, to encourage the non-systemic opposition that is working abroad against the interests of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

Our position is absolutely clear. We will discuss it today in detail as relates to further steps at the meeting of the two collegiums of the Belarusian and Russian foreign ministries. We have prepared several reports.

☝️ I am sure that the agreements we will sign following today’s discussion will facilitate the further implementation of the programme of our countries’ coordinated foreign policy actions.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s comment for the media following a meeting with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko

📍 📍 Minsk, January 19, 2023

💬 Sergey Lavrov: I have had a meeting with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, and we have discussed the work of the foreign ministries of our two countries to implement foreign policy aspects of strengthening the Union State.

🇷🇺🇧🇾 For over 20 years, we have been approving two-year programmes regarding coordinated actions on the international stage. We are currently implementing the 2022-2023 programme. We are drafting another document for the next two years, due to be approved by the Supreme State Council. We hold annual meetings of the collegiums of our foreign ministries, while implementing these joint foreign policy actions.

The agenda will focus on drafting additional measures to implement our coordinated policy as regards hostile actions taken against our countries and the Union State by NATO and the EU. They are trying to involve other organisations, including the Council of Europe and the OSCE, in these hostile actions. We will discuss the coordination of our steps at UN divisions.

<...>

🤝 We exchanged opinions regarding international developments around the events in Ukraine during Russia’s special military operation. We share a common position regarding specific goals that have to be attained, so that no threats to Russia and Belarus would emanate from our neighbours, including Ukraine or others. All essential tasks are implemented under direct orders from both presidents. Our leaders regularly note this, while meeting in Belarus and the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko met ten times throughout 2022. This underscores the special nature of relations within the framework of the Union State and the special role that our presidents play in promoting the legitimate interests of each country and the entire Union State on the international scene.
