Hola! Friday news in brief 👀
Air traffic controllers at 16 Spanish airports will continue to strike. Yesterday's negotiations on their wages and working conditions were thwarted, which means flights will continue to be delayed, at least throughout April.
Spain has started to grow hydroponic hops to save beer from the climate crisis.
Storm Noa is raging in the north, with showers and strong winds, but temperatures will drop across the country. Temperatures will normalize by the weekend, and you can always check the region for storm warnings here.

⚡️ Barcelona has figured out how to save up to 45 million euros annually
What is really needed are trees. Lots of trees!
They did a study and it turns out that if more green areas reduce the costs associated with mental health problems. Up to 45 million euros! Every year!
The conclusion is based on a growing body of evidence linking trees in the city with good mental well-being, with the prevention of depression, anxiety and insomnia.
Something similar has already been tried (and is being tried): the authorities of the Eixample neighborhood have decided in 2020 to replace car-clogged intersections with planted spaces, to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists.
If the plan is fully implemented, the number of trees in the city will increase by 5.7%. And even that percentage would have a significantly positive impact on the psyche.
Modeling by the study's authors showed that a green boom could:
• Prevent up to 31,000 cases of mental ill-health.
• Reduce the number of visits to mental health professionals by 13%.
• reduce the use of tranquilizers and sedatives by 8% per year.
• save up to 45 million euros per year in direct and indirect mental health costs.
🌳 This kind of news makes you want to go to the park. Which are your favorites, by the way?

Hola!
At El Prat airport there will be a strike of cab drivers from today until April 20. They want the authorities to take action against illegal cab drivers at the airport complex. Flight delays are unlikely, but it is better to arrive early.
Smoking has been banned on 28 beaches in Spain. Last year, smoking was also banned on the beaches of Barcelona, with fines for violations. The main goal of this campaign is to create a network of clean and smoke and cigarette-free beaches.
This March was the hottest in the 21st century, according to the state meteorological agency (AEMET). How do we cool off this summer?

Hola! ¿Qué tal? A batch of Tuesday news 👀
Cusi-News: Tourists are being warned about jellyfish. Because of the weather, huge numbers of phyzales (jellyfish that live in tropical and subtropical waters) have been thrown ashore. Some beaches have raised red flags, with only 12 people getting a bite on La Cière Beach. The bite is not fatal, but painful.
The authorities are preparing a law that will protect bars and small companies located in villages. In 17% of municipalities, hospitality is underdeveloped, the bar and store around the corner may be the only place to meet and entertain locals. Under the new law, bars, restaurants and small businesses in villages will receive subsidies and support to help them stay afloat.
The authorities have also launched a new campaign against speeding. It is the most common traffic rule violation in Spain, so there will be more officers on the most problematic stretches until April 23. The violation carries a fine of 100 to 600€, and in some cases the loss of 2 to 6 points of the driver's license.

Can a foreigner get married in Spain? ❤️
Two subscribers in love asked us. Let's understand the question.
Briefly:
• Yes, a foreigner can get married in Spain. However, there are certain requirements and procedures that must be followed.
• Both parties must be at least 18 years old.
• At least one of the parties must be a legal resident of Spain for at least 2 years before the date of marriage. But if the couple is not resident in Spain, it is still possible to get married.
• One must get special permission from the authorities or apply through the Catholic Church.
The process of applying for marriage:
1. First, the couple must first obtain a certificate of no impediment to marriage (also known as a certificate of no marriage or certificate of civil status) from the embassy or consulate of their country. The certificate must be translated and certified.
2. With the documents in hand, the couple must go to the Spanish Civil Registry Office (Registro Civil) and submit an application to get married.
3. Then you have to wait 15 days and you can go get married. The ceremony must be performed by a Spanish judge, priest or government official and two witnesses must be present.
For extra reassurance, you can consult a lawyer. He will help make sure that the marriage is legally recognized and will tell you about the different requirements for marriages in the different autonomies.
Bonus option: getting married in Gibraltar. Citizens of any country can marry here, regardless of nationality or residency.
💍 If you got married or married in Spain or Gibraltar, congratulations! Share your experience in the comments.

Wednesday News ⚡️
Residents of Barcelona complain about digital nomads. Because of their influx, it has become more expensive to rent an apartment and drink beer in the bar, which cost 6€. Renting a room in the Poblenou area will cost 1400€, even people who grew up here have to look for cheaper housing.
The Spanish government will turn Sareb Bank's toxic assets in the form of apartments bought during the economic bubble into affordable housing. That's 21,000 empty homes, 14,000 occupied homes that will receive government support. Also, 15,000 homes will be built from the ground up.
The government is also going to raise the «ceiling» on rents. It wants to pass a law limiting next year's rent increase to 3%. Now the limit is 2%. Large landlords — individuals or firms that own five or more houses - will also not be able to raise rents.

Here in this post we talked about parks where you can walk your dog. But we forgot all about ourselves 🥺
Correction. Barcelona's four best oases of tranquility.
📍Ciutadella Park
A park in the northeastern part of the Old Town, created in the late 1800s. It has a zoo, lake, walking paths and museums.
📍Park Güell
A park with a Gaudi museum and panoramic views, an architectural ensemble of buildings, stairs and sculptures. You can bring your dogs here. Admission is paid!
📍Parc del Laberint d'Horta
Neoclassical park: a labyrinth of cypresses, a pavilion with a terrace, water structures and picnic areas. It will appeal to romantics and lovers of long walks. Admission costs a couple of euros, and on Sundays and Wednesdays admission is free.
📍Parc de Cervantes
A tranquil park with a rose garden, grassy spaces, mountain views and a children's playground. It's especially nice here in spring, with rose bushes blooming all around and smelling delicious.

Spain checked in more than 6.5 million international passengers in March. That's 30% more than last year. 6.5 million, imagine! And it's not even summer yet.
On May 1, 2, 4 and 5 the pilots of the struggling airline Air Europa will hold a strike. The pilots are demanding higher wages and respect for their rights, «not to play with them».
Madrid wants to introduce a new tourist tax. Its purpose is to curb overtourism and help rebuild the city's tourism industry. The amount of the tax is not yet known, in Barcelona tourists pay 4€ per night for rented accommodation.

In June in Barcelona there will be total cultural chaos. Grec is coming to the city 👀
Grec is a big cultural summer festival where French tightrope walker Nathan Paulin will cross the Paseo de Gracia on a steel cable. No, it's not a clickbait.
All in all, from June 29 to July 30, the festival will feature many, many things: 88 different shows, 32 performances, 15 concerts, lots of dancing, performances and circus. Renowned choreographers and screenwriters have been involved in creating all this fun.
There is a feeling that The Greek has something of interest for everyone. Tickets and program are here.
