🇷🇺 SGIA at WYF 2024! 🌐
From March 1st to March 7th, more than 20 SGIA students, professors, and staff from both Russia and 16 other countries attended the World Youth Festival 2024 on the federal territory “Sirius” near Sochi. The official SGIA delegation included Director Alexander K. Bobrov, Vice-Dean Vasily. E. Taran, and professor Olga V. Lebedeva.
🙌 Today, SGIA is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students!
🇮🇹 The World Youth Festival closing ceremony, which was attended by many esteemed guests, such as the President of the Russia Vladimir Putin, began with a video dedicated to SGIA’s 4th-Year student from Italy, Irene Cecchini. In the video partly voiced by Russian actor Konstantin Khabensky, she talks about her dream - to establish intercultural relations between Russia and Italy. Irene herself was present at the ceremony in the front row as a guest of honour.
🇸🇪 Olivia Ahlund, a 4th-Year SGIA student from from Sweden, became a participant of the closed meeting of President Putin with foreign students in Russia. During an informal exchange, Olivia told the President how exciting her studies at SGIA were. Although she had not previously considered Russia as a place of residence or study, as she herself noted, after starting her studies at MGIMO she found herself in "her" place, going as far as becoming the President of the SGIA-based English-speaking Future World Diplomats Student Club.
🇪🇬 Karim Shaaban, a 3rd-Year SGIA student from Egypt became the Head of the Egyptian Delegation to the WYF 2024, speaking at the panel session "Youth Audit of Russia-Africa Relations", where participants expressed their views on the impact of the Russia-Africa 2023 Interstate Forum on the development of interstate processes in the modern world.
🇩🇰 Vanessa Sevidova, a 4th-Year SGIA student from Denmark became a part of the WYF-volunteers team, without whom no event would have taken place. As Vanessa herself noted, the Festival allowed her to meet many from all over the world.
