If the light source is far away (93 million miles) the moon won’t cast a shadow on the earth.
For that to happen, the light source must be close to the object casting the shadow AND the object casting the shadow must be close to the object it’s casting a shadow upon.
If you try this with a marble (moon) and tennis ball (earth) the further the light source is from the marble, the less of a shadow it casts on the tennis ball until no shadow at all when far enough.

93 million miles away will NOT cast a shadow on f all UNLESS the two objects are in very close proximity AND the first object is large enough.

You all like to talk about scale and show something like the image below, but the sun does not appear to be 93 million miles away in the image does it?
