World’s First Brain Implant To Treat Depression Unveiled

Inner Cosmos, the brainchild of Israeli entrepreneur Meron Gribetz, has unveiled the “digital pill” brain implant designed to treat depression. The digital pill comes in two parts – a small electrode that sits just under the skull and sends electrical pulses directly into the brain, and a “prenoscription pod” that snaps onto the patient’s head to power the unholy contraption.

The theory is that by zapping the patient directly in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), they’ll be happier. The DLPFC is thought to play a role in major depressive disorder.

“Our mission is to create a world that restores humanity’s cognitive power by rebalancing the human mind,” Gribetz said. “The world is in a state of severe disorder, leading to a disordered cognition.”
