🇷🇺🇪🇺 With the gas contract between Russia and EU ending, unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldovan Republic" is facing power shortages and freezing epidemic.
The break away state has two options:
🇺🇦 Rejoin Ukraine, a part of which they always used to be up until 1940, when Stalin decided to give it to Moldovan SSR, justifying this as "lessening Moldovan SSR's dependency on Ukrainian SSR's energy infrastructure". More than 30-35% of the population is Ukrainian, with more than half of it knowing how to communicate and write in ukrainian. Ukrainian language is is one of two official languages in unrecognized break away state, Tiraspol university is named after famous Ukrainian poet Taras Schevchenko.
The population isn't massive, so integrating them into Ukraine will not be a difficult task to do.
🇲🇩 Rejoin Moldova, causing even more trouble within the country, which seeks to reunify with Romania, and adding even more disloyal minorities to the future union state. It faces either one of two choices, grant them autonomy similar of that to Gaugazia, or keep it semi independent like Iraqi Kurdistan.
The option of mass deportations for Russian dissidents is out of question simply because they will lose their EU candidate membership.
And of course, the Russian garrison inside this entity will be taken as POWs, regardless of who gets to control the territory, be it Ukraine or Moldova.
