The End of the Holy Fools? – Abe, Bojo, And Populist Strongmen On The Brink
To state the very, very obvious – in Japan it sure looks like Shinzo Abe era is over. His shocking assassination by a lone wolf killer with a homemade shotgun is one hell of a news story – compared…

Welcome all, thanks for following! I'm still getting my head around how this Telegram thing works, but I think I kinda get it. I'm really hoping to get around some of the limitations of Western social media here, even though it's a different kind of model. I will try to send regular content here, including stuff I don't post elsewhere. :D

Taiwan is not a country: Why Nancy Pelosi’s planned visit is so dangerous
US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the third most senior member of the US government, has suggested she plans to make an official visit to the island of Taiwan next month. This is an absolutely foolish idea that achieves nothing but purposefully provoking Beijing, and it could easily seriously escalate military tensions. But why? Many in the West, including both sides of the US government, believe that US politicians should be able to go anywhere they want. Why is visiting Taiwan such a big deal? Well, today I’ll explain why Nancy Pelosi should cancel her proposed visit and why the US in general should stop aggravating the situation regarding Taiwan.

7 – A China nunca usou bombas atômicas contra civis.

Ten points about China, Taiwan and the USA
1. Taiwan is Chinese territory. There is nothing to debate about that. With the triumph of the Chinese Revolution, in the wake of the Cold War, imperialism recognized the rebel province of Taiwan as an independent country.
This recognition was only done to try to weaken the Communist Party of China government. It is as if with a revolution in Brazil, a part of the bourgeoisie migrated to Fernando de Noronha (brazilian archipelago), declared an independent country and the United States supported the "autonomy" of the country. No one from the left, by any prism, can support Taiwan's "independence".
2. Calling Taiwan a democracy is another reactionary absurdity. The rebel territory, until the other day, was an autocratic state functioning under martial law. Today, formally, it has an electoral protocol. Now, try to do unionism in the country or advocate the immediate reunification with China and expect death or certain jail time.
3. The United States, since 1979, has recognized Taiwan as a Chinese territory. Joe Biden himself had pledged to maintain the policy of recognizing Chinese sovereignty over Taiwan. The United Nations General Assembly resolution 2758 in 1971 recognizes Taiwan as part of China. 181 countries of the world recognize the One China principle, thus the country's sovereignty over Taiwan.
4. Nancy Pelosi's entry into Taiwan is a provocation of war, a violation of Chinese sovereignty, a crime from the perspective of international law, an attack on the legitimacy of the UN, and yet another war seeking act by Gov. Joe Biden.
5. China has no interest and no desire for a world war. The Chinese economy, unlike the economy of the United States, does not depend on war as a central engine for its accumulation. Allied to this, from a geopolitical perspective, war is not in the Chinese interest. It is US imperialism that is hungry for war and needs military conflicts just like our body needs oxygen.
6. It is not China that has troops, military bases, and atomic weapons on the border of the United States. It is the United States that maintains a permanent military apparatus surrounding and threatening China.
7. China has never used atomic bombs against civilians. The United States has.
8. China has no history of participating in wars declared unilaterally, ignoring the UN, international law, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The United States has this history.
9. China has full and complete right of defense.
10. Imperialism must die before it wipes out all humanity.
