Following massive missile strikes by the Russian Armed Forces against Ukraine's energy infrastructure on 10 and 11 October, it is only now that a relatively complete picture of the results of the firing and the extent of damage to certain targets is emerging.

Rybar's team analyzed open-source data, eyewitness reports from the field, NASA's FIRMS fire-fighting map, and information from classified sources. In some cases, the effects of a fire are not so clear and data are lacking. In such cases, the item is marked as 'Requires clarification'.

🔻 Based on the available information, we believe that the most effective strikes were in Lvov, Kharkov, Khmelnytsky and Sumy regions.

▪️ Despite this, power supply has now been restored almost everywhere, but the transmission capacity of the power system has been reduced as a result of the strikes.

▪️ Transformers and autotransformers at 330/110 and 330/150 kV are most likely to have been hit. Substations and thermal power plants managed to reduce both generation and transmission capacity of the power system.

▪️ An indirect indication of the effectiveness of the strikes can be found in the fact that Ukraine has refused to export electricity to the EU and Moldova.

▪️ Emergency schemes are used to bypass damaged parts of the electrical system. The effect of their use creates the illusion of solving problems, but in fact it only postpones them.

🔻 However, it is clear that the damage to the Ukrainian energy system is not enough to fragment it into separate power districts. The stability of the energy system is maintained through forced rolling blackouts of consumers - especially during morning and evening peak hours.

▪️ The Russian Forces regained control of the front line of defence. During the fighting, more than 50 members of Ukrainian formations were eliminated and four tanks, three BMPs and three Kirpi APCs were destroyed.

▪️ On the left flank in the #Tavolzhansk sector, the AFU have taken up a defensive position and are rotating their personnel. The Ukrainian command has withdrawn its subordinate units from the #Dvurechnaya area due to a massive fire attack by Russian Forces.

▪️ An anti-aircraft missile division of the AFU´s 14th Brigade is deployed in #Dvurechnoye to protect against air attacks and to defend against Russian UAVs.

#Lyman - #Svatovo Section:

▪️ 60 men of the AFU's 118th Territorial Defence Brigade were deployed towards #Terny. Unfit personnel were evacuated to #Yampolovka. Several squads of English-speaking mercenaries were moved towards #Dibrovskoye.

▪️ In the areas of #Raygorodka, #Karmazinovka, #Rozovka, #Novolyubovka and #Makeevka, the enemy tried to recapture lost positions and cross the #Zherebets river. Russian soldiers repelled the attack and destroyed three BMPs, two BMPs and several dozen AFU personnel.

The second part of the film about the storming of the #Peski settlement by soldiers of the 11th regiment of the DPR People's Militia has been released on the Military Chronicle Channel @milchronicles. The stronghold near #Donetsk came under Russian control in August after weeks of sustained fighting.

The events were filmed from a helmet-mounted camera by war correspondent Andrei Filatov and his quadcopter. Although the video does not feature colourful tank wedge battles, it perfectly captures the realities of the fighting.

In one episode there is an attack by the 11th Regiment's assault group, during which the drone detected an AFU ambush in time. The commander gave the command to stop the advance and the enemy was hit with 120mm mortars.

The video also includes domestic moments, such as delivering water and toilet paper to forward positions. During this, the cameraman and his guide meet a group of soldiers evacuating a wounded comrade. The casualty had stepped on a "petal mine" in a place that had long been considered safe.

All the faces caught in the lens - from the armoured vehicle commander to the mature soldiers in their old SSH-68M helmets - look real. Between shooting and running they cuss and joke like ordinary people.

That is why the video captivates with its naturalness even though there are no battle scenes. As Andrey Filatov @FilatovCorr jokes himself, the videos are so lively because all his cooperation with the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence boils down to the principle of "If they do not disturb our work, that is good enough".

This is the key difference between real military correspondents and those led by representatives of the RF Armed Forces' information agencies.

And the reservoirs weren’t nearly full after a dry summer, but the water is being spent anyway. Today, the intensity of strikes diminished for some reason.

The attacks there have been repelled with significant losses for the enemy, but they didn’t seem like a serious attempt of an offensive. The Russian command is well-aware of the danger in Zaporozhye. ▪️ A combined assault grouping with the 1st Battalion of the 66th Brigade, the 110th Battalion of the 111th Division of the TPO and the 131st Battalion of the 112th Division of the TPO has been formed near #Terny. In case of a failed attack on the settlement, the Ukrainian command is ready to make another attempt. Reinforcements and reserves are being moved to #Lyman.

▪️ The AFU, using the forces of two battalion-tactical groups, tried to force the #Zherebets River and occupy the settlements of #Stelmahovka and #Rozovka. Russian air force artillery and aviation struck clusters of the AFU, destroyed two tanks, five BMPs and two pickup trucks. The Ukrainian formations suffered several dozens of casualties.

Elimination of AFU armoured equipment and militants that attempted to attack Russian units' positions in #Kherson region.

◽️ AFU militants attacked Russian Airborne Troops' forces by tanks and armoured personnel carriers to break the defence. The attackers were detected by UAV crews. Kornet and Shturm-S anti-tank missile system from Airborne Troops received the reconnaissance data and opened fire at the enemy armoured vehicles.

💥 Russian paratroopers have destroyed 4 tanks, 5 armoured personnel carriers and over 20 AFU militants. The enemy attack has been frustrated.

◽️ AFU militants abandoned the dead and injured personnel during their withdrawal.

▪️ The Russian Forces carried out at least three strikes using a Geran-2 UAV against a logistics terminal in the Buchansky district of the #Kiev region, where foreign military equipment might have been present.

According to some reports, one of the kamikaze drones was shot down on the border of the #Kiev and #Zhytomyr regions.

▪️ Ukrainian militants again attempted to shell #Belgorod Region. As a result of an air defence strike, debris from one of the missiles fell on a residential block of flats.

▪️ Russian Forces fired on targets in #Miropolye and #Stukalovka in the #Sumy region.

▪️ In #Kharkov region, the Russian Forces struck enemy concentrations of personnel in the border towns of #Volchansk, #Udakh and #Bugrovatka.

▪️ In the #Starobelsk direction, the sides shelled each other with high intensity along the entire line of contact.

▪️ Russian Forces engaged targets in #Dvurechnaya, #Gryanikovka, #Zarechnoye, #Novoegorovka, #Stelmakhovka, and west of #Kislovka.

▪️ In the #Bakhmut (#Artemovsk) direction, Russian missile forces and artillery hit enemy positions in #Bakhmut, #Bakhmutskoye, #Spornoye, #Zelenopolye and #Serebryanka.

▪️ In the #Donetsk direction, Russian Forces continued strikes against defensive positions of the AFU in #Avdeevka, #Maryinka and #Pervomayskoye.

Ukrainian militants, in turn, shelled the #Donetsk agglomeration again.

▪️ In #Zaporozhye region, Russian Forces worked on targets in #Orekhov, #Zaliznichny, #Nikolskoye and #Poltavka. The Russians also struck enemy firing points in #Nikopol and #Marganets.

▪️ In the #Nikolaev - #KrivoyRog area, the Russian Forces conducted several strikes on AFU targets in #Nikolaev, Davydov Brod and #Bereznegovatoye.

The enemy shelled Novaya Kakhovka, with most of the shells intercepted by air defence assets.

▪️ In #Odessa Region, Ukrainian air defence forces failed to hit Russian UAVs: one of the anti-aircraft missiles went off course and exploded near the AFU positioning area.
