i have a story about this
i got my own pc at 8 years old and made a yahoo email for myself because gmail didnt exist yet. later that year at school my class was put into a computer literacy class where one of the instructions was to create an email at hotmail where the user name was first initial last name and email the teacher. i thought "oh thats fine. i already have an email so ill just send from there.
that wasnt good enough. i had to make a hotmail so i brought up the fact that every single infographic and article about digital hygiene says not to use your real name on the internet, double true for children.
the teacher did not appreciate that i said that right in front of every other child that was creating a real name email address, who all seemed worried after i said that. she said "i know you already know about computers. just do it and you never need to use the email again." fuck it whatever. i do it.
the second part of the lesson was to go home, login at home, and send another email to the teacher from home. i get home, go to log in to hotmail but accidentally type "hotmale dot com" and BAM hardcore gay pornography on my screen.
i was so fucking mad.

i am once again hateposting about microsoft
today i had a user come to me because when looking at all of the teams he is a member of, one of them was missing. my first thought was that someone made a mistake and accidentally dropped him from the team. i think thats a pretty rational line of thinking. user error should be more common than software error, right?
but ive dealt with microsofts garbage code (which is only getting worse) long enough to have him close and reopen teams and of course the group became visible again just by restarting the application.
it took me all of four minutes to fix this and yet im still bitter because like half of all my tickets are just this crap. these kinds of fodder tickets waste so much of my time which is really oxymoronic because all of the changes and new features across all of microsofts products are designed to make IT and user computer use easier.
its really, really, not easier. i cant wait for everyone else to realize this corpse is dead and cold so that we can move on to better services

its a good thing i dont have control over any phone systems because i would definitely change the hold music to doohicky type music

it will never stop being funny to me that in cyber security "TA" can mean "threat actor" (the bad guy) or "threat analyst" (the good guy)
frankly its rather poetic because its pretty normal for people to switch sides. the guy who shut down notpetya ransomware (the largest ransomware campaign at the time and probably still is) got arrested for writing banking malware like 20 years ago.
ive noticed a new feature in youtube where instead of starting a video at 0:00 it starts a minute or two in around the time that previews/intros/etc end.
its not very accurate and a bit jarring. im not a fan of it. i already use sponsorblock to skip those things and i dont need youtube trying to preempt that.

the reason why firefighters spend more time doing fire prevention than fighting fires is because they spend more time doing fire prevention than fight fires.

when i turned 21 i went in to the dmv to get a new drivers license that would be accepted for alcohol purchase. they asked me if i would like to register to a political party and i said independent. i would get the regular amount of spam political calls telling me what i should vote for.
a few years later i moved to a new state and got new drivers license. i was again asked to affiliate with a party and on a whim said "democrat". nothing funny would happen but who knows.
after about 2 years of nothing, suddenly im being bombarded with spam calls, mostly from D.C. 202 area code. interestingly, they do not just call and start flooding my ear with some noscript. instead they specifically call for me by my legal name which is surprising because the only time i use my legal name is when im required to such as opening a bank account. most calls i receive ask for me by a different name. they also ask information gathering questions like "is this a cell phone?" "are you still residing in [city]?"
all of the issues they call me about are specifically for things that democrats support. I dont know any republican affiliated people who get the same treatment from democrats or republicans.
despite the fact that these callers sound very american i still ask them "do you have working toilets or do you still shit in the streets?"

Hello, I hope this email doesn't find you. I hope that you have been freed from the shackles on your desk. I pray that instead of living in a gray cubic world made by man you will find yourself in a world made by God where sunlight, fresh air, and beautiful nature abounds. I wish that the the tyranny of the clock ends and that you will be unbound from schedules and rush hour. May you be at peace.

There's this sci-fi book i read when I was a kid called Ender's Game. There's a subplot where the main character's teen aged siblings steal the identities of adults and use them to be able to post on the internet and eventually amass enough internet clout to be able to change governmental policy. The part that I thought was unreasonable wasn't that a couple of kids would be able to clout chase their way from nothing to literally bending governments to their will. The unreasonable part to me was that the internet would become so closed off that you could not access it without a government issue ID.

i got a wireless mouse (naga v2 hyperspeed)
pros:
no cable catching things
dont have to mess around with plugging it in every day
petp pads are very smooth, there is also a ring pad around the sensor so fuzz cant get into the sensor void
cons:
its very mushy. i didnt think 3ms response time would be noticeable but it really really is. im constantly overshooting buttons when moving my mouse over them. i cannot fathom how anyone could play an fps like CS with a wireless mouse.

sidenote: the software is GARBAGE.
>go to download synapse (management software)
>click the button to download it
>get an ad to download some other software i dont want
>run the installer. its not synapse. its some "software manager" thing
>use the software manager thing to install synapse
>has a pre-checked box saying "install other garbage too"
>takes like 20 minutes somehow to download and install
>forced reboot
>after reboot management software once again redownloads and installs synapse (what did it install the first time?)
>finally get synapse installed
>pretends to force account creation to use the software. found a tiny "guest login" button to avoid that sewage.
>run it
>forced tutorial
>first page is an ad for other software
>3rd page is a game manager that i dont want and cannot uninstall without removing synapse
>whole thing is filled with ads for other synapse products
>by default, software will display "recommendations" (ads) for other products and software (this is literally adware)

the mouse is decent. at its price point i would call it okay. the software is complete garbage. i would go as far as to call synapse malware because it wants to display ads by default. if i was not able to turn that off or if it forced account creation just to make macros and bind them to keys i would have returned this in a heartbeat
