btw if you install this font on your windows computer it might break all your fonts. there is something about the helvetica in ttf format that causes the windows font renderer to kick its self in the face. uninstalling the font fixes it. google how to uninstall fonts before you install this.

i know the kneejerk reaction here is "hurdurr libtard cringe" but there is an important lesson here.
when i was a kid my dad said something incredibly important. "its really expensive to be poor."
when you have money you can choose to buy an 80$ pair of work boots that will last you 2 years or you can buy a 50$ pair of work boots that will last you 1 year. if you are poor you have no options other than to pay more for boots or go barefoot.
when you have money you can buy a reliable car that wont break down. if you can only afford an unreliable junker you get fired for missing work because youre in the side of the road desperately trying to diagnose a car with no tools one too many times.
when you have money you can buy things outright and avoid interest. when youre poor you not only take a loan, you take a loan with increased interest because your low income makes you a greater risk.

of all the great advice my dad gave me that rather short conversation shaped my future more than any other i think.

In Japan – the Fukui Prefectural Police Echizen Police Station have created the "Virus/Trojan horse removal fee payment card" and the "Unpaid charges/delinquent charges payment card".

The fake cards, designed to combat telephone scammers, are positioned intentionally at convenience stores to assist police at identifying victims and safeguarding them from financial harm. When someone tries to purchase the card the police are immediately notified.

Upon placement in stores in November 2023, it immediately stopped 3 elderly people from being scammed in November and December.

No additional information has been released regarding the success rate. However, the police officers who came up with the idea were given a promotion in February, 2024.

Recently someone asked that I write about the passage in the Bible where Peter walks on water with Jesus. Matt 14:22-33
This is a straight forward passage that is often taught to children to explain the importance of having faith in the Lord but I think it's also a good study of how a single passage can have multiple applications.

Faith: Jesus calls Peter out of the boat. By Peter's faith in Christ he steps out of the relatively safe boat into a stormy sea. Peter loses sight of Jesus when he looks towards the high waves and wind around him and begins to sink, but Jesus saves him. When they both get into the boat Jesus chastises Peter "O man of little faith, why did you doubt?" We must always keep our attention pointed towards the Lord's plan and know that he will keep and protect us in all things.

Salvation: When Peter was sinking Jesus did not save him immediately. It was not until after Peter cried out to Jesus to be saved that Jesus reached out and caught Peter. This shows the importance that we cannot simply believe that there is a god, or believe in the one true God and have salvation. We must actively repent and beg for salvation from the Lord.

Asking God for guidance: Peter didn't simply jump out of the boat. He first calls out "Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water." and does not step out until after Jesus calls for him to come. In the same way we should ask the Lord for guidance in our decisions. "Lord, is this the right job for me to pursue? Lord, should this be the car for me to buy? Lord, is this the woman you've put in my life to marry?"
i just realized something kind of wild.
before smartphones got popular cellphones would last like 4 days on a single charge. most smartphones last like a day and a half now. people still sometimes reminisce about not having to charge their phone every day.
if you use your smart phone as much as you use an old flip phone you can get it to last close to a week. my work phone, which is a very old pixel 4xl, can still get like 4-5 days of battery because i use it like 1-2 time a day to call my boss and thats it.
phones dont have worse endurance, you just use yours too much.
people should stop bragging that "my phone can last 2 days" and should start bragging "i can make my phone go 4 days because im not a screen zombie"

today a large number of websites, airports, hospitals, etc had server failures. the root cause was that crowdstrike, a popular antivirus solution had an update and started crashing windows server hosted on microsoft azure. servers would crash and then while rebooting would BSOD.
microsoft's official fix for this is to reboot the servers and just keep doing that forever until it boots successfully
i am once again reminding you that windows is not a professional operating system. the vast majority of people using windows do not have real jobs and those that do get any work done do so in spite of using windows.

SPAMHAUS LIED
PEOPLE DIED
I really do hate these people. Theyre a bunch of stupid unelected internet cops who appointed themselves. They claim that they do not block for TCP SYN scanning and it was proven 5 years ago that they do.
SpamHaus are lying idiots. Every couple of months I have go back and tell these morons that im not malicious, spamming, or even scanning- which is a completely benign activity.
if you use SH lists you are making the internet worse. Stop doing that.
