An airdrop is a marketing campaign where a blockchain-based project or company distributes tokens, coins, or other cryptocurrency assets to a large number of addresses or users for free. Airdrops are typically used to increase awareness of a new project or encourage the adoption of a particular token or cryptocurrency.
