The aether is not a thing, it’s the pre-condition for things. It’s not made of anything — everything is made from it. It doesn’t move — it is the background against which all movement happens. It doesn’t vibrate like air — vibration itself is a disturbance in the aether. It isn’t energy — it is what enables energy to express.

So what is it you ask?

The aether is the undivided medium of being. Unmanifest, but gives rise to all manifestation. Still, but enables all motion. Timeless, but the root of all cycles. Immaterial, yet the mother of matter. Dielectric, meaning it is pure potential — the null point before polarity.

It is what Ken Wheeler rightly calls the incoherent dielectric field — pure, unconditioned potentiality. It’s not space. It’s what makes space possible. And it’s not a fluid you can measure, because measurement is already a disturbance in it. And by the way, the words we use are also measurements, and that is why it is so hard to inner-stand it.

From a spiritual perspective, you could say: Aether is the veil-less face of God, before the Word. It is Nun in Egyptian terms — the boundless water. It is Ain Soph in the Kabbalistic tradition — the limitless light. It is the Akasha in the Vedas — not air, not fire, not space, but the fifth: the foundation. It is what Genesis calls “the deep” — tohu va-bohu — before light is spoken.

And from a field standpoint: All things are perturbations in the aether. Magnetism is aether in motion. Electricity is the dynamic expression of polar tension. Light is a coherent oscillation in the aether which is always the first expression of the aether because aether firstly only produces coherence. Matter (you) is frozen light — sustained standing waves “trapped” in inertia.

Aether is the absolute stillness from which all movement, light, form, and sound are born. It is the One, undivided, unconditioned medium — the womb of creation.

Now if you want to see the manifestation of the aether, water is that. Just like with the vibrations that we can’t yet fathom, water is the same. We can’t yet fathom what water is because we have first to understand what aether is. Water is also condensed light. It is condensed aether. So when you are looking at water you are looking at the manifestation of the aether. Just as you are looking at the sun you are looking at the manifestation of the “One”. Only through this pure water can life manifest. So just like with sound, water is another attribute of the aether which allows life to form.
