Virga is rain that evaporates before it hits the ground. Of course, Parisian virga doesn't fall from ordinary gray rainclouds. These are iridescent; small water droplets (probably supercooled below freezing) diffract the rays of the setting sun to produce a raincap of pastel color.

"I have seen virga before, but never like this," says Kulik. For some photographers, there's no place like home.

​The massive stone spheres are referred to as the stone spheres of Diquis, a region to the south of Costa Rica, and were made between the year 300 and 1500 AD by the predecessors of the Boruca Culture, explains a post on the Facebook post on the National Museum of Costa Rica.
These massive spheres were located within important settlements, forming sets or alignments and as part of principal architectural structures, to reinforce the prestige of a place and the position of power of the leaders.

There are spheres of a few centimeters up to 2.66 meters in diameter and they can weigh as much as 25 tons.

In their work, the Atlantis in America they argue that the petroespheres indicated marine routes, and were used as navigational instruments, and that their alignments pointed towards megalithic sites like the Columns of Hercules (Gibraltar), the pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge, or Easter Island, suggesting that Atlanteans were related to other civilizations, and evidence of their exsitnece is present in Costa Rica.

The finding, published in Science, suggests that a reservoir of water is hidden in the Earth’s mantle, more than 400 miles below the surface. Try to refrain from imagining expanses of underground seas: all this water, three times the volume of water on the surface, is trapped inside rocks.

Called ringwoodite, the rock is bright blue and is only formed at high temperature and pressure in the Earth’s mantle. The water would have been squeezed out of the rocks, “almost as if they’re sweating,” explained Steven Jacobsen of Northwestern University.
