That Polynesians were the first to travel so far south and possibly even spot Antarctica itself shouldn’t be too surprising, given their extensive maritime history. The new paper, by presenting these cultural accounts, should encourage further research. Unfortunately, a Euro-centric view of science and history has long meant that the achievements of other cultures get buried and discounted.

A Russian expedition from 1820 is conventionally credited for being the first to spot Antarctica, but Indigenous narratives describe another story, in which Polynesian chief Hui Te Rangiora and his crew, sailing on the vessel Te Ivi o Atea, journeyed through Antarctic waters some 1,320 years ago. The ship is described as venturing a long way south, and by doing so, its crew were “likely the first humans to set eyes on Antarctic waters and perhaps the continent,” according to the paper.

Indigenous legends make note of a “frozen sea” and a “dark place not seen by the Sun.” Hui Te Rangiora called this part of the southern ocean Tai-uka-a-pia, which means “sea foaming like arrowroot,” in which he was likely comparing powdered white arrowroot to icebergs. Incredibly, Te Ivi o Atea may have ventured as far south as the Ross Ice Shelf.

Other things are like rocks, whose summits pierce the skies, they are completely bare and without vegetation on them. (Smith 1899, p. 10)

Here he suggests that Southern Ocean bull-kelp – the ‘tresses that float on the monstrous waves’ – marine mammals, and icebergs respectively are visualised, all of which would have been new to Polynesian explorers.

The inner core powers the dynamic process that generates our planet’s magnetic field, which protects the Earth from many forms of harmful radiation and plays a crucial role in the planet’s ability to sustain life.

An international group of scientists has revealed that Earth’s inner core is growing in a "lopsided" pattern every year. According to the findings of their study, published on 3 June in the journal Nature, the inner core grows in an uneven manner with new iron crystals forming faster on the east side than the west side.

Researchers admit that they don’t know what causes this lopsided growth, noting that in order to answer it they have to understand the processes that are going on in Earth’s mantle.

"Every layer in the Earth is controlled by what's above it, and influences what's below it. The inner core is slowly freezing out of the liquid outer core, like a snowball adding more layers. The outer core is then cooled by the mantle above it — so to ask the question of why the inner core is growing faster on one side than the other might be asking the question of why is one side of the mantle cooler than the other?" said Daniel Frost, a seismologist at the University of California and lead author of the study.

The inflammatory spike proteins are now being replicated in human cells, subverting the natural protein synthesis of the cells, while leaking into the bloodstream and accumulating in vital organs. One study shows the spike protein can invade and live in the neural tissue, infecting neurons and causing neurotropism.

The S1 sub-unit of the spike protein enters the parenchymal tissue of the brain in murine models. The brain’s endothelial cells attempt to hide the spike protein in the brain capillary glycocalyx, which can lead to degradation of the glycocalyx, dysfunction of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and cerebral edema.

Byram Bridle, a viral immunologist and associate professor at University of Guelph, Ontario said the medical community “made a big mistake” deploying spike protein programs through mass vaccination campaigns. Dr. Bridle points to a “bio-distribution study” that shows how the spike protein escapes into the blood post-vaccination, and circulates for several days, accumulating in organs and tissues. 773 reports of anaphylaxis among 12- to17-year-olds with 98% of cases attributed to Pfizer’s vaccine, 1.8% to Moderna and 0.5% (or four cases) to J&J.

59 reports of myocarditis and pericarditis (heart inflammation) with 58 attributed to Pfizer’s COVID vaccine.
